Wooden house for puppy and kitten
The honest and kind puppy had a beautiful, thin wooden house. He invited the kitten to play by the river. However, the mischievous and willful kitten got scared when he heard some noises at night. Hearing that a big wolf was coming, he became even more frightened.
Afraid of the rain, he asked the puppy to bring the little house along, with a small chair inside. So, the puppy carried the house on his back and walked ahead, while the kitten followed behind, saying, “Wow, puppy, you’re really strong!” The puppy was so weighed down by the house that he couldn’t lift his head.
The kitten stopped and asked, “Puppy, are you tired?”
The puppy replied, “Not tired! Not tired at all!”
When they reached the river, the kitten started catching butterflies on the grass. The puppy, feeling a bit tired, lay down on the grass and fell sound asleep.
The kitten shook the puppy awake and said, “There are lots of fish in the river. Go use your tail to catch some fish; I love eating fish!”
The puppy had only ever heard the story of “The Kitten Who Fished,” but he had never fished himself. Now he couldn’t argue with the kitten, so he had to dip the tip of his tail into the river, waiting for fish to bite.
He didn’t catch any fish, and the kitten then asked the puppy to climb a tree to catch green grasshoppers. The puppy said, “We puppies can’t climb trees; only kittens can climb trees.”
The kitten still insisted the puppy climb the tree. The puppy made a big jump but couldn’t grasp a branch, missed, and fell to the ground, knocking himself out.
This frightened the kitten, who started to cry. He quickly untied the white silk ribbon from his neck and wrapped it around the puppy’s injured leg. The kitten bandaged it very carefully, and the bleeding stopped.
Finally, the kitten dragged over one piece of wood after another, stuffing them under the house to make wheels, and pushed the injured puppy back home. As the sun set, the kitten shouted at the little house, “Puppy! We’re home!” But the puppy didn’t hear anything; he lay comfortably in the house, sound asleep.
