Tragic romance tale
When Xiner met Wang Xiao, he was a pampered young man living a life of luxury.
They met on a sunny afternoon, got to know each other, and fell in love. After a while, they naturally became a couple, admired by their classmates and friends as the perfect match.
Their feelings for each other grew deeper as they fell more in love. Their dependence on and trust in each other only increased. Watching their sweet moments, everything seemed so blissful.
Xiner asked Wang Xiao, “If one day I left, would you miss me?”
Wang Xiao laughed and said, “How could that happen? We love each other so much. We will be together forever.”
Xiner smiled without saying a word and nestled in Wang Xiao’s arms.
One morning, Xiner inexplicably got angry at Wang Xiao, catching him off guard because it was the first time she had ever been so furious with him. Just as Wang Xiao was feeling puzzled, Xiner stormed away from him. Days passed, and Xiner didn’t show up or attend classes. Wang Xiao began to blame himself, wondering if he had done something wrong or hadn’t done enough.
So, Wang Xiao decided to find Xiner and clear things up.
A week passed, then two weeks… He anxiously called everyone they knew and searched all the places they used to visit but couldn’t find Xiner. Wang Xiao began to lose himself, smoking and drinking every day, hoping to lessen his longing for Xiner.
One day, Wang Xiao received a letter from Xiner:
“How have you been these days? Do you miss me? I know you must be surprised to receive this letter. Please forgive me for leaving without saying goodbye. It was my fault; I shouldn’t have treated you that way. I think the pressure of us being together was too much for me, and I was very tired and just wanted to get some air.
During the days without you, I kept thinking of you, your kindness, and our time together. But I feel we are not suitable for each other. I didn’t break up with you in person because I wanted us to keep the good memories of each other. Take care!”
The letter slipped from his fingers, and tears quietly flowed from the corners of his eyes…
Wang Xiao collapsed to the ground, feeling as if his soul had been ripped from his body, his heart breaking into pieces, hurting so much he couldn’t breathe. He didn’t want to break up with Xiner; he couldn’t face all this…
All he wanted now was to ask Xiner in person, to see her, even for just a minute. He missed her; he loved her. He continued to inquire about Xiner from her friends.
One day, Wang Xiao received another letter.
“I’ve been gone for more than two months now, and I heard you are still looking for me. You are so foolish. I said we are not suitable, and you are not the prince charming I imagined. What would finding me do? I chose this way because I didn’t want to hurt you more.
Please stop looking for me, okay? Our fate is over, and saying anything more is futile. I have now found my other half, and we are getting married soon. Wish me happiness, okay? I hope you can find your angel too. I’m not worth it, nor do I deserve it.”
Wang Xiao furiously tore the letter in his hand. “I don’t believe it. I don’t believe you can be so heartless to abandon me. I will find you.”
Finally, one day, one of Xiner’s friends tearfully found Wang Xiao. She said, “Xiner is dying. Go see her. She loves you.”
Looking at Xiner on the hospital bed, she was so frail and pale. Months of chemotherapy had taken her beautiful long hair. Seeing Wang Xiao, tears fell from Xiner’s eyes. “How did you find me? Why didn’t you listen to me?” Wang Xiao smiled. “That doesn’t matter anymore.” He then kissed Xiner’s dry lips, and tears gently slid from the corner of his eyes.
Wang Xiao stayed by Xiner’s side every step of the way, accompanying her through the last part of her life. The illness was not moved by their true love and took away Xiner’s beautiful smile and a young life.
At the last moment when Xiner closed her eyes, Wang Xiao whispered in her ear, “If one day you leave, you won’t be alone. My heart will always follow you, and my love will always surround you. Love remains on the road to heaven.”
