The Unforgettable Night of Little Mouse
The night was quiet, and Little Mouse lay peacefully between his mom and dad, having sweet dreams.
“Ouch…” In the middle of the night, Mama Mouse suddenly cried out in pain.
“Dear, what’s wrong?” Papa Mouse woke up and asked.
“My stomach hurts so much, I can’t bear it anymore! Ouch…” Mama Mouse clutched her stomach, her face covered in large drops of sweat.
Papa Mouse quickly said, “You don’t look well. Come on, I’ll take you to the hospital!”
“We can’t,” Mama Mouse glanced at Little Mouse, who was sound asleep, and said, “If we leave for the hospital, Little Mouse will be all alone at home. He’ll be scared when he wakes up and finds we’re not here.”
“Don’t worry,” Papa Mouse reassured her. “Little Mouse is grown up now; he can take care of himself.”
“I’m still not at ease. Let’s wait until morning,” Mama Mouse said, trying to hold on.

“Dear, don’t worry. Little Mouse can handle it,” Papa Mouse said, as he lifted Mama Mouse and rushed to the hospital.
Before long, Little Mouse really did wake up.
“Mama, Papa…” In the darkness, Little Mouse called out several times, but no one answered. Now he started to panic, quickly getting up to turn on the light and search for his parents. He searched everywhere inside and outside the house but couldn’t find them.
“Whimper…” Not knowing what had happened, Little Mouse started to cry in fear.
“Sweetie, when you face difficulties, don’t cry; think about how to solve them.” Suddenly, Papa and Mama’s words echoed in Little Mouse’s ears.
“Right! Crying won’t help, no matter how loudly I cry, it won’t bring Mama and Papa back. I need to calm down and think about how I can find them.”
Little Mouse thought as he looked around. When he saw the phone on the table, his eyes lit up, and he quickly ran over to make a call.
“Beep—beep—beep—” The phone connected, and Papa’s kind voice came through the receiver: “Sweetie, you’re awake! You’re so smart to know how to call Papa. Go back to sleep for now. Once we’ve taken care of Mama, we’ll be home soon…”
Hearing from his parents, Little Mouse felt much better. He listened to Papa’s advice, obediently hung up the phone, and went back to bed to sleep.
When the first rays of morning sunlight streamed into the room, Little Mouse woke up again. This time, he found Mama lying quietly beside him, and from the kitchen came the sound of Papa cooking…
