The Sneezy Lazy Witch
The Lazy Witch had a very remarkable history: her black robe took ten little piglets ten years to clean, and they still couldn’t get it spotless; her black towel turned the clear stream beside the forest dark; her stove was always cold because she never cooked…
Ever since the Lazy Witch ate that unwashed red carrot, she started sneezing non-stop.
“Achoo—” out of the Lazy Witch’s nose flew a roasted duck, smelling delicious.
“Achoo—” out of the Lazy Witch’s nose flew a loaf of bread, looking fresh.
…
“Haha, such wonderful things? It’s like manna from heaven!” The Lazy Witch laughed heartily as she looked at the tasty treats that came out with her sneezes.
The news that the Lazy Witch’s sneezes could produce delicious food quickly spread throughout the forest. All the lazy creatures flocked to her place, eager to learn the secret of sneezing from her.
“You just need to eat an unwashed carrot,” the Lazy Witch told Pika the Bear who came to learn the trick.
Pika the Bear frowned as he ate a carrot covered in dirt and sand.
“Achoo—” Pika’s sneeze produced a string of roasted meat.
“Haha, what a wonderful sneeze!” Pika picked up the string of roasted meat, about to eat it—
“Achoo—” The Lazy Witch sneezed again. This time, out came a big-mouthed crow. The crow snatched the roasted meat from Pika’s hand and flew away.
“So… achoo… so… achoo… so annoying!” Pika the Bear sneezed and walked away angrily.
“You just need to eat an unwashed carrot,” the Lazy Witch told Latin the Monkey who also came to learn.
Latin the Monkey frowned and ate the dirt-covered carrot.
“Achoo—” Latin’s sneeze produced a big, red peach.
“Wow! Who knew I could learn such an amazing skill!” Latin picked up the peach and was about to eat it—
“Achoo—” The Lazy Witch sneezed again. This time, out came a little squirrel. The squirrel grabbed the peach and ran away quickly.
“So… achoo… so… achoo… so annoying!” Latin the Monkey sneezed and angrily chased after the squirrel.
…
In this way, no one dared to come to the Lazy Witch to learn anymore.
“Hahaha, those noisy fellows are finally gone,” the Lazy Witch said with a wicked smile. “Now, I can enjoy the delicious treats from my sneezes all by myself.”
“Achoo—” The Lazy Witch’s sneeze produced a thick fairy tale book.
The Lazy Witch happily opened the book: “Hehe, the heavens have granted me a fairy tale book, now I can read lots of beautiful stories…”
“Achoo—” Before she could read the first story, the Lazy Witch sneezed again. This time, out came a cute little boy. The little boy grabbed the fairy tale book from the Lazy Witch, made a face, and ran away.
“So… achoo… so… achoo… so annoying!” The Lazy Witch sneezed and chased after the mischievous boy.
But, even now, the Lazy Witch still hasn’t caught up to the little boy who stole her fairy tale book.
