The Real Polar Bear Pretending to be a Toy

One morning, Pi’er’s little sister, Little Cloud, woke up to find her toy polar bear missing again. After searching the house, she went straight to the balcony and, sure enough, the polar bear was there along with Pi’er’s penguin.

“Penguins and polar bears like cold places,” her brother had said. It must have been her brother who did it, and Little Cloud was very angry. She picked up her polar bear and then threw Pi’er’s penguin off the balcony.

Downstairs, a house was being renovated, and a bucket of green paint was left outside. Oh no! The penguin fell into the bucket. Little Cloud got scared and quickly hid in the closet with her polar bear.

Pi’er woke up too and went to the balcony to look for his penguin. Huh? The penguin was gone! And the polar bear was missing too!

“Hey! Pi’er! You’re so naughty! How could you throw your penguin into my paint bucket?”

Uncle Gao from downstairs suddenly shouted. Pi’er looked down and saw Uncle Gao holding his penguin, now turned into a frog by the green paint!

“Wow—” Pi’er cried loudly as he ran downstairs to retrieve his poor penguin.

Just then, Pi Da and Pi San arrived. “Pi’er, why are you crying?”

“The… the polar bear is too powerful! It pushed my penguin off the balcony…”

Pi Da widened his small eyes. “Really? That polar bear is…”

“That polar bear must be a real polar bear pretending to be a toy!” Pi San said, suddenly feeling a cold sweat on his forehead.

“Let’s take it to the zoo!” Pi’er stopped crying immediately.

They found Little Cloud, grabbed the polar bear from her, stuffed it into a bag, and ran off, with Little Cloud crying and following behind.

But none of them knew the way to the zoo.

“Let’s hang it up in a tree,” Pi’er suggested. He looked at Pi Da, as only Pi Da could climb trees.

Pi Da rubbed his hands together confidently, hung the bag with the polar bear around his neck, took a few steps back, and then, like a high jumper, ran and climbed up the tree.

“Great!” Pi’er and Pi San clapped their hands in approval.

The poor toy polar bear ended up being hung high in the tree branches for the whole night. Little Cloud was very sad!
