The Little Dragonflies and the Little Fish
Three dragonflies were flying low over the water’s surface.
The red dragonfly landed on a lotus leaf.
The blue dragonfly perched on a reed.
The purple dragonfly settled on a piece of water grass protruding from the surface.
Three little fish swam over joyfully.
The chubby fish said, “Oh, what a beautiful red dragonfly!”
The skinny fish said, “Oh, what a handsome blue dragonfly!”
The long fish said, “Oh, what a dashing purple dragonfly!”
The three dragonflies were delighted to hear this. They glanced at their reflections in the water, realizing for the first time how beautiful, handsome, and dashing they were. By this time, the fish had already swum away, so the dragonflies gently flapped their transparent wings, flew after them, and said:
“Little fish, you are silver, shiny, lively, and beautiful. The way you swim is so graceful!”
“Really?” The three little fish were so happy that they blew a string of bubbles, and one of them even jumped out of the water, trying to give the dragonflies a kiss!
At this moment, the red dragonfly said:
“Little fish, we are flying low because it’s going to rain soon. I know that fish love rainy days the most!”
“We will bring you shiny, shiny raindrops,” said the little blue dragonfly. “Come on, raindrops!”
“May the little fish be even happier on rainy days!” said the little purple dragonfly. “The river will bring more waves for you to surf on…”
In the distance, thunder rumbled, and the sky grew darker.
Soon, light rain began to fall, and little ripples formed on the surface of the river.
The fish happily shouted, “Thank you, little dragonflies, for telling us that it would rain. The rain has come, thank you!” Meanwhile, the little dragonflies were hiding in the grass beneath the lotus leaves, happily watching the little fish frolic in the rain…
