The Lion’s Big Forest
In the forest, there was a corner unknown to everyone. It was a beautiful and quiet corner.
One day, a little rabbit unknowingly wandered there. Seeing the dense trees, the babbling brook, and the blooming flowers everywhere, he said, “What a beautiful place! There’s so much green grass, fragrant fruits, and sweet water here. I’ll call my friends to come; they’ll be so happy!”
Just as he was saying this, the little rabbit’s feet suddenly left the ground. He struggled to reach the ground with his feet, but he couldn’t. Looking up, he saw his long ears were being pulled by someone. Looking to the side, he saw a tall lion standing beside him.
The lion was old but still looked very mighty. The lion said, “Little thing, who let you come here and even wanted to bring your friends? How daring!”
“Put me down,” said the little rabbit. “Are you the owner here? It’s not polite to treat guests like this!”
The lion put down the little rabbit and said, “This is my place—the lion’s big forest, and no one is allowed to come. But since you’re here today, I’ll keep you because you’re a cute rabbit, and I am lonely by myself.”
“Don’t be afraid of being lonely; I will make you happy,” the little rabbit said and began to tell the lion a long and interesting story. However, it soon got dark, and the little rabbit was anxious to go home.
The lion asked the little rabbit, “Will you come again tomorrow?”
“It seems I can’t come again because my story is finished. But if you really love listening to stories, I can invite my good friend, the hedgehog. He has as many stories as the quills on his body.”
“Really? Does the hedgehog have that many stories? Ask him to come tomorrow!”
The next day, the little rabbit called the hedgehog, and they told stories to the lion all day and played on the grass.
It got late again, and the little rabbit and the hedgehog had to go home. The lion asked, “Will you come again tomorrow?”
“It seems we can’t come again because we don’t just want to tell stories. We want to listen to the flower-tailed bird sing, and you don’t have flower-tailed birds here.”
“You can invite the flower-tailed bird to come too,” said the lion. “I’ve never heard the flower-tailed bird sing!”
On the third day, the little rabbit and the hedgehog invited their good friend, the flower-tailed bird. The flower-tailed bird sang many beautiful songs in this beautiful forest, and the lion was very happy.
As it got dark again, the lion asked worriedly, “Will you come again tomorrow?”
The three friends said, “It seems we can’t come again because we can’t just sing and tell stories. We also want to watch the bear’s acrobatics!”
The flower-tailed bird added, “The bear’s acrobatics are so much fun.”
The lion said, “Why don’t you invite your good friend, the bear, to come too? I love watching acrobatics.”
Another day passed, and the little rabbit, the hedgehog, the flower-tailed bird, and the bear all came to this beautiful forest. They told stories, sang songs, performed acrobatics, and the lion happily danced.
The flower-tailed bird said, “This is truly a happy big forest!”
The lion said, “With you all here, this place becomes joyful. Enjoying happiness together with everyone makes me so happy!”
The lion invited his friends to stay in this big forest. He said, “Let happiness stay in this big forest forever!”
