Children’s bedtime story with animals

There was a cat, a cat who loved listening to stories. Every day, besides going out to catch mice, he would listen to Grandma Cat tell stories.

One day, the kitten pestered Grandma Cat for a story again.

Grandma Cat had just begun: “Once upon a time, there was a moon in the sky, a silver-white moon, and on it lived a little white rabbit…”

The kitten immediately interrupted: “I like this rabbit, I want to be friends with him.”

The story was interrupted, and Grandma Cat looked very annoyed. She said, “What are you talking about? Can you climb into the sky to befriend the little white rabbit on the moon?”

But the kitten didn’t care about that.

He really liked this little white rabbit on the moon. Day and night, he thought about becoming friends with the little white rabbit.

Grandma Cat had no other options, so she told the kitten, “I’ve heard the elders say that the moon often comes down to the earth to bathe in the pond. If you can find the moon in the small pond, you can be friends with the little white rabbit on the moon!”

“That’s not hard.” The kitten said, “I can see the moon in the small pond every day.”

“Foolish child,” said Grandma Cat, “that’s not the real moon, that’s the moon’s reflection.”

“Then how can I find the real moon?”

“You need to be patient. Every night, go to the pond, throw a stone at the moon in the pond. If the moon breaks, it’s just the moon’s reflection. If the moon doesn’t break and remains intact, then it’s the real moon bathing in the pond.”

“It’s actually not that complicated,” the kitten said smartly. “I just need to look up at the sky. If there is a moon in the sky and also a moon in the pond, then that’s the moon’s reflection. If there’s no moon in the sky, but there’s a moon in the pond, then it must be the moon bathing in the pond.”

“Foolish child, that trick won’t work,” said Grandma Cat. “The moon is very clever. When she comes down to bathe, she hangs her reflection in the sky. How can you tell which is the reflection in the pond and which is the real moon?”

That was true. The kitten thought, and he could only use Grandma Cat’s method to identify the real moon.

Every night, the kitten went to the pond and threw stones at the moon in the pond. Each time, the stone would break the moon.

The kitten didn’t get discouraged. After throwing the stone, he would practice swimming in the pond.

One day, he threw a stone, and the moon didn’t break.

The kitten jumped into the pond and swam to the moon. He met the little white rabbit on the moon. The kitten and the little white rabbit became good friends, and he followed the moon up into the sky.

Meanwhile, Grandma Cat hadn’t seen the kitten for a few days, and she knew the kitten must have gone to the moon. Every night, Grandma Cat looked up at the moon. Besides the little white rabbit, there really was a beautiful little cat on the moon.

One day, Grandma Cat suddenly saw the kitten coming home, soaking wet.

The kitten said he had lived on the moon for a week, but he wasn’t used to life there. The little white rabbit was busy growing his carrots every day on the moon. As for the kitten, he couldn’t catch any mice on the moon because there were no mice, so the kitten felt very lonely and cold.

Today, while the moon was bathing in the small pond again, the kitten said goodbye to the moon and the little white rabbit and came home to see Grandma Cat.

Grandma Cat was so happy when she heard the kitten’s story that she hugged the wet little kitten tightly.

From then on, the kitten no longer wanted to go to the moon. But he didn’t forget his good friend—the little white rabbit on the moon. The kitten would often go to the pond and throw stones. If one day he couldn’t break the moon in the pond, he would run home and bring a bag of mushrooms and vegetables to his good friend—the moon rabbit.

They would chat and sing together on the moon in the pond.

That beautiful scene made everyone who saw it truly envious…
