The Giraffe’s Wish

In spring, the giraffe wanted to make a wish, but unfortunately, it couldn’t speak, so it quietly wrote it down on a blade of grass.

The wind came, gently shaking the blade of grass, showing the giraffe’s wish to the wind. So the wind blew gently in the sky, stretching and breaking the white clouds, forming a few words with them.

Then, the birds flying across the sky saw the giraffe’s wish.

The rabbits playing on the ground saw the giraffe’s wish.

The monkeys picking fruits in the trees saw the giraffe’s wish.

The hippos bathing in the river saw the giraffe’s wish.

They were all good friends of the giraffe. So, after seeing the giraffe’s wish, they came from all directions, gathering around the giraffe.

The hippo stood beside the giraffe, then the monkey climbed onto the hippo’s back. Next, the rabbit jumped onto the monkey’s shoulders.

The rabbit stretched its neck hard, trying to get close to the giraffe, but what could it do? It still couldn’t reach!

The little rabbit was about to cry, and the hippo and monkey frowned, while the giraffe felt especially frustrated.

At this moment, the bird came and smiled, saying, “You all are so silly. Watch me!”

The bird led the giraffe to a tall tree as high as the giraffe. The bird stood on a branch, flapped its wings, and asked the giraffe to come a bit closer. Then, the bird gently kissed the giraffe with its sharp beak.

So, everyone saw the giraffe smiling. Although it couldn’t speak, everyone felt its happiness.

Do you know what the giraffe’s wish was? The grass by the roadside was still swaying its green waist, and written on it was: “I want my friends to kiss me.”
