The fox really wanted to learn how to swim because there were chubby little ducklings in the river.

One day, the fox, with bad intentions, said to the mother duck, “Mother Duck, please teach me to swim. If I learn, I promise I won’t eat you.” The mother duck knew the fox was cunning, so she didn’t agree at first. But after the fox begged two or three more times, her heart softened, and she agreed.

Mother Duck first taught the fox to hold its breath. The fox practiced every day, and before long, it had mastered the skill of holding its breath.

But just holding your breath wasn’t enough, so Mother Duck prepared to teach the fox how to swim. One day, as she was about to start the lesson, the fox lunged at her. Fortunately, Mother Duck was quick and immediately jumped into the water. Seeing this, the fox jumped in after her, thinking it already knew how to swim. However, as soon as it jumped into the water, it sank within seconds.

Luckily, Mother Duck was kind-hearted and saved the fox once again. But this time, no matter how much the fox begged, Mother Duck refused to teach it to swim.
