The Fox Drives the Car
There was once a hunter who drove a car to the woods by the sea to hunt. After stopping the car, the hunter took his gun and went hunting for foxes. A little squirrel saw the car and thought it was very strange. It jumped down from the tree, slowly walked over to the car, and with a leap, jumped inside to play with the steering wheel. “Honk!” The little squirrel accidentally hit the horn, and the horn blared loudly.
The little squirrel was so startled that it jumped out of the car as fast as it could. The honk of the car attracted many animals in the woods, and they all came to watch the commotion. Some said the car was alive, while others said it was dead, but none of them really knew what it was. Then, Grandpa Turtle came over, took a look, and said, “Ah, I’ve seen this thing many times before. People call it a car, and they often drive it to the seaside for a swim.”
The little monkey was thrilled and said, “Grandpa Turtle, can you teach me how to drive a car?” Grandpa Turtle taught the little monkey how to drive, and the little monkey, being quite clever, learned very quickly.
“Honk, honk!” The car started moving. The little monkey invited the little bear, the little deer, the little rabbit, and the little squirrel to all sit in the car. He also had Grandpa Turtle sit beside him to watch him drive. “Honk, honk!” The car sped away, and everyone was so happy!
The car drove and drove until, suddenly, a fox appeared ahead — it was the very fox the hunter was after. The fox saw the car speeding toward it and thought the hunter was chasing it. Terrified, it took a closer look and realized the car was being driven by the little monkey. The fox shouted, “Stop! Stop!”
The little monkey hit the brakes, and the fox ran over, saying, “Everybody, get out! Get out! Just a moment ago, the hunter told me that this strange thing was a gift for me. If you don’t get out, I’ll have the hunter shoot you all.” Helpless, everyone got out of the car.
Although the fox didn’t really know how to drive, it still got into the car. Afraid that someone might try to get in again, it shut the door and tried to drive like the little monkey, but the car wouldn’t budge at all.
The hunter, hearing the sound of the horn, hurried over. The little monkey, the little bear, the little deer, the little rabbit, and the little squirrel all ran away, and Grandpa Turtle hid as well. When the fox saw the hunter approaching, it was so scared it started trembling and jumped off the seat, trying to escape, but it had locked the door too tightly and couldn’t get out.
The hunter laughed heartily and said to the fox, “I’ve been looking for you for so long, and now you’ve delivered yourself right to me.” So, the hunter caught the fox alive.
