The Clever Little Rooster
The fox often sneaked into the chicken village to bite the chickens, and the chickens both hated and feared the fox.
A little rooster came up with a way to deal with the fox. He asked the skillful hen girls in the village to make some fake fox fur and sprinkle it under each house’s window. Then he taught them to perform a wonderful play.
In the evening, a fox swaggered into the village. He found that the entire village was filled with a festive atmosphere.
The fox was very curious and quietly approached a rooster’s window. He overheard the roosters discussing the deliciousness of fox meat. One rooster said, “This magic gun is great. It killed three foxes in one shot.” Another rooster said, “I didn’t expect fox meat to be so tasty.” A little rooster in a childish voice said, “Mom and Dad, I want to eat fox legs next time.” The hen hurriedly replied, “Sure, when Dad catches another fox, you can eat as much as you want.”
The fox was shocked. It had always been foxes eating chickens. How could chickens eat foxes?
Suddenly, a rooster said, “Oh no, I left the fox fur outside the window and forgot to bring it in. If the fox sees it and knows we eat fox meat, no fox will dare to come here again.”
The fox looked down and indeed saw a pile of fox fur. Oh my, the roosters really killed and ate foxes! The fox was so scared that his legs began to tremble.
Suddenly, a rooster spotted the fox crouching outside the window and excitedly shouted, “Great, a fox has delivered itself to us!” The roosters all jumped up in joy and shouted, “Quick, don’t let it escape.”
Footsteps were heard from inside, and there must have been at least a hundred roosters. The fox was so frightened that his face turned pale and his courage almost broke. He immediately fled.
From then on, no fox ever dared to come to the chicken village again, and the chickens in the village lived a peaceful life.
