The Chatty Myna Bird
In the early morning, sunlight streamed into the big forest. A myna bird with black feathers and a pointed beak stood on a large pine tree, facing the sun, loudly chirping, “The sun is up, everyone, let’s get to work!” Immediately, the forest became lively, and a day’s work began.
A yellow warbler flew over and said with its melodious voice, “Myna bird, you’re quite the talker!”
Upon hearing the compliment, the myna bird flapped its wings joyfully and loudly exclaimed, “Yes, I am quite the talker, I am!”
One day, while a group of little white rabbits were playing hide and seek, the myna bird flew over and perched on a big tree, watching them. Unable to resist, it thought to itself: “I’m quite the talker, why not say a few words!” So, it shouted loudly, “Hey, there’s a little white rabbit behind the big tree, and another one behind the big rock, oh, there’s one over there too, hurry and catch them!”
Upon hearing this, all the little white rabbits jumped out, saying in unison, “We’re not playing anymore, since you’ve revealed everything, what’s the point?” One of the little white rabbits glanced at the myna bird and said, “Let’s play somewhere else, away from it.”
“Alright!” With a rush, the little white rabbits all ran away, leaving the myna bird alone on the big tree.
At the end of the day, there was going to be a concert in the forest, and all the little animals gathered under the big pine tree. The myna bird was the first to step forward and sing a song, and the other animals applauded together.
The yellow warbler sang next, its loud and melodious voice captivating everyone. Suddenly, the myna bird loudly exclaimed, “I can sing too, I can sing too!” Interrupting a good song, it made everyone angry.
Next, the woodpecker began to sing, but just as it started, the myna bird jumped in and sang messily in the middle. This made everyone even angrier. The little swallow said, “This concert is ruined, let the myna bird sing alone! I’m leaving.” With that, it flew away.
The little animals all shouted, “We’re done, we’re done!” Everyone left, leaving the myna bird alone on the big tree.
The next day, the little animals held an emergency meeting. Because last night, the big gray wolf had bitten a little lamb, in order to protect everyone’s safety, the little animals decided to use their collective strength to kill the big gray wolf.
So, they came up with a good plan, digging a deep and large pitfall, and letting the little white rabbits lure the big gray wolf into it. The little white rabbits went to lure the big gray wolf, and everyone else hid.
After a while, they saw the little white rabbit rushing over in a hurry, with the big gray wolf chasing behind. Just as they were about to reach the pitfall, they heard the myna bird shouting, “Everyone, hide quickly, the big gray wolf is coming!” Upon hearing this, the big gray wolf immediately turned around and ran away.
Everyone was very angry, saying in unison, “What an annoying myna bird!” After speaking, everyone left, leaving the myna bird alone on the big tree, ignored by anyone in the forest. It felt very uncomfortable, thinking: Why does nobody pay attention to me anymore?
The myna bird squatted on the big tree, shedding tears of sadness. The magpie flew over and saw it, saying, “Do you know why everyone is ignoring you? It’s good that you can talk, but you always interrupt and talk nonsense in any situation, ruining things. Who would want to be with you?” The myna bird nodded repeatedly in embarrassment. The magpie continued, “As long as you correct your shortcomings, stop interrupting, and make amends, everyone will still be willing to be friends with you.”
