The Business of the Crab

After much contemplation, the crab finally decided to open a barbershop. It was quite an achievement for the crab to come up with this idea.

However, the crab thought, “The barbershop business is too slow.”

Why did it think so? Because there wasn’t a single customer.

So, the crab barber took its scissors and went to the seaside.

The octopus was there taking a nap. “Hey, Brother Octopus,” called the crab.

The octopus opened its eyes and asked, “What’s the matter?”

“I’m a barber. Would you like a haircut?”

“Take a good look. See if there’s any hair on my head.”

The crab carefully examined the octopus’s head. Sure enough, there wasn’t a single hair; it was completely bald. No matter how skilled the crab was at haircuts, there was nothing it could do with a bald head.

So, the crab ran to the mountains.

The raccoon was taking a nap in the mountains.

“Hey, Brother Raccoon.”

The raccoon opened its eyes and said, “What’s the matter?”

“I’m a barber. Would you like a haircut?”

Raccoons are known for their mischievous nature, so the raccoon came up with a bad idea.

“Sure, go ahead. But you have to promise me one thing: after cutting my hair, you also have to cut my father’s hair.”

“Alright, that’s easy.”

Finally, it was time for the crab to showcase its skills.

Snip, snip, snip.

The crab was a small creature, and the raccoon was much larger.

Moreover, the raccoon was covered in fur, so the cutting was very slow.

The crab, blowing bubbles from its mouth, worked tirelessly,

and it took three full days

to complete the task.

“You promised to cut my father’s hair too!”

“How tall is your father?”

“He’s as tall as that mountain over there!”

The crab was at a loss. It thought, if he’s that tall, it couldn’t manage it alone.

So, the crab enlisted its children to become barbers too.

Not just its sons, but its grandsons, great-grandsons, and even the newborn baby crabs,

all became barbers.

Don’t believe it? Just look around. Even the tiny crabs we see by the roadside are carrying a pair of scissors.
