The Beautiful Shoes Around the Neck
Little raccoon A Duo was walking in the grass when he suddenly saw a pair of beautiful shoes, but they were covered in mud.
A Duo carefully took the shoes to the river to wash them.
The shoes dried quickly under the sun.
Little raccoon A Duo said, “These are my shoes! I should wear them and go for a walk!”
A Duo put on the shoes, but after just a few steps, he tripped over the big shoes. He got up, put the shoes on again, and after a few more steps, he tripped again…
A bird named Bai Tou Weng, who was sitting in a tree, said, “A Duo, these aren’t your shoes!”
“Yes, they are! I picked them up!” said A Duo.
“The shoes you picked up shouldn’t be worn on your feet; they should be hung around your neck.”
“Hanging them around my neck is a good idea?”
“Yes, everyone will notice!”
A Duo hung the shoes on both sides of his neck.
Not long after, a little bear came running over and said, “Please, let me take a look. These seem to be my lost shoes.”
“How did you lose your shoes?” A Duo asked.
“I’m a careless bear. That day, after it rained, the wet mud grabbed onto my shoes, and I didn’t notice, so I walked home barefoot.”
“Be more careful next time!” A Duo happily returned the shoes to the little bear.
“Thank you for your kindness, for hanging my lost shoes around your neck; thank you for washing my shoes; and most of all, thank you for returning them to me!”
Hearing the little bear say so many “thank yous” in a row made A Duo very happy. He joyfully went to find the bird Bai Tou Weng.
Later, A Duo found Bai Tou Weng on a red maple tree. He said, “Bai Tou Weng, thank you for telling me these weren’t my shoes; thank you for the great idea to hang them around my neck; and thank you for helping the little bear find his own shoes.”
Bai Tou Weng was also very happy and said, “Thank you for agreeing to hang the shoes around your neck; thank you for helping the little bear quickly find his shoes; and most of all, thank you for telling me the good news. You really are a kind little raccoon!”
Both A Duo and Bai Tou Weng said so many thank-yous in a row, and they were both incredibly happy.
