Story with moral for kids
Elephant Hu Hu and Little Elephant Ha Ha are brothers. Every day, after eating the breakfast their mother prepares, they roam around playing in the hills and fields. Sometimes, they even use their little trunks to pick fresh, green grass for their mother. How filial they are!
However, they also have their faults. See, they got into a fight!
It all started when they were crossing a floating bridge and discovered a potato ball. This potato ball must have accidentally fallen from a farmer’s basket. No harm there, but this potato ball was quite extraordinary. It was perfectly round, shiny, smooth, and golden yellow. It looked so tempting that anyone who saw it would want to have it. Who wouldn’t?
So, who discovered the potato ball first? Was it Hu Hu or Ha Ha? Hu Hu held the adorable potato ball tightly with his big trunk and said, “Humph, humph, I found it first, so it should be mine to play with!” Little Ha Ha, his face red with excitement, exclaimed, “Ah, ah, I saw it first, it should be mine!” Ha Ha, furious, shouted as he hit Hu Hu with his still-growing trunk.
Hu Hu, not backing down, lifted the potato ball high in the air, playing with it happily. He even made faces at his brother, which further infuriated Ha Ha. Ha Ha then picked up a big stone with his trunk and threw it at the potato ball in Hu Hu’s grasp, angrily shouting, “I’ll let you play, I’ll let you play!” With a loud thud, the stone missed the potato ball but landed squarely on Hu Hu’s trunk, causing him to cry out in pain.
The potato ball fell to the ground and shattered. Meanwhile, Hu Hu’s trunk bled, and he started crying. Ha Ha, realizing the trouble, tried to run, but Hu Hu kicked him, giving him a potato-sized bump on his bottom. Ha Ha’s cries echoed from the bridge across the fields, reaching their parents.
Soon, their parents arrived, deeply concerned about their injured sons. Hu Hu blamed Ha Ha, and Ha Ha blamed Hu Hu. They kept arguing and crying. Then their father sternly scolded them, and they quieted down. He then put his left arm around Hu Hu and his right arm around Ha Ha, and said affectionately, “Children, you are brothers. The older brother should take care of the younger, and the younger should respect the older.
The old saying goes: ‘A brother’s friendship, a younger brother’s respect.’ Today you fought over a little potato ball; in the future, you will face greater conflicts. What will happen then?” Their mother gently tended to their wounds and added, “Children, brothers are of one heart, and their strength can break gold. Remember, you must care for and help each other to grow well. Only then will you always be good brothers and good children to your parents.”
Hu Hu, with his head down, said to Ha Ha, “Brother, I was wrong. I should have let you have it.” Ha Ha quickly replied, “No, brother, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have used the stone and hurt you.” “I was wrong,” said Hu Hu. “No, I was wrong,” replied Ha Ha. They started arguing again, but this time their parents laughed!
