Robot Story: Robot That Can Paint
Ding Ding’s family bought a robot. This robot was amazing; it not only did chores but could also paint!
“Robot, can you paint a picture for me?” Ding Ding asked.
The robot smiled and nodded, its green forehead light “popped” on. It prepared the colors and set up the canvas, then asked Ding Ding, “What should I paint?”
Ding Ding said, “Paint me a bowl of clouds.” So, the robot drew a basin on the white paper, and the basin was filled with white clouds.
Ding Ding said, “Now paint a small river with small fish swimming in it.” The robot drew a square, light blue river that looked like glass, with small square-shaped fish swimming in it.
“Then paint an orchard…with lush fruit trees…and a little girl washing clothes by the river, with an ant foraging nearby.” Ding Ding kept adding more details. The robot drew quickly, but unfortunately, nothing looked quite right.
Ding Ding frowned and said, “And paint a wisp of a dog to keep the girl company.”
The robot “beeped” and stopped drawing, angrily saying, “I can’t paint a wisp of a dog. You’re just giving impossible instructions!” With a “click,” the green light turned off. The picture was really ugly!
“It’s all your fault!” “It’s all your fault!” Ding Ding and the robot started arguing.
Ding Ding’s mom came over, asked what happened, and then smiled at the robot, saying, “Let me direct you to paint a new picture!”
With a “pop,” the green light on the robot’s forehead lit up again. Mom said, “First, draw a white cloud, then draw a small river with fish swimming in it. Next, paint an orchard with lush fruit trees, then a little girl washing clothes by the river, with an ant foraging nearby. Finally, draw a cute little dog accompanying the girl.”
When the robot finished the last stroke, Ding Ding smiled, “Wow, this is such a beautiful picture!”
