remora story: The Unconventional Traveler
In the azure blue ocean, many fish lived. One day, the swimming champions tuna and sailfish met and started chatting.
“Tuna, we are both swimming experts, and we swim very fast. How about we go on a journey? I heard that the scenery in distant places is very beautiful,” said the sailfish.
“Sure! Let’s go together! I also want to see the distant places,” said the tuna.
“Can you take me with you?” a small remora swam over.
“Take you? You must be joking!” said the sailfish disdainfully.
“I’m not joking at all because I often travel thousands of miles away,” the remora replied earnestly.
“Haha, seeing how lazy you usually are and your poor swimming ability, you can’t swim very far. How could you often travel thousands of miles? Stop bragging!” the tuna mocked.
“Haha, I believe the remora often travels thousands of miles, but it’s in its dreams,” the sailfish’s words made the nearby sea animals laugh out loud.
“Remora, you can just have a nice dream, so there’s no need to go through the hardship of swimming to distant places with us,” said the tuna, and then it swam away with the sailfish. Their lightning speed drew admiration from the surrounding animal friends!
The tuna and sailfish swam and played, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the deep ocean. In just a few days, they swam to a place thousands of miles away.
“Tuna, sailfish, we meet again,” said the remora, suddenly appearing in front of them.
“How could it be you? How is this possible?” the tuna expressed disbelief.
“Could it be that we swam thousands of miles but were just going in circles?” the sailfish asked.
“Absolutely not. We met the remora in the Indian Ocean before, and this is the Pacific Ocean. Remora, can you tell us how your swimming speed suddenly became so fast?” asked the tuna.
“Haha, actually, my swimming speed is still very slow, but I have a trick. I have a large sucker, and when I attach it to fast-swimming animals, they take me on trips to distant places,” the remora explained.
“Remora, without any effort, without swimming, you can go on trips. That’s amazing!” the sailfish no longer dared to underestimate the remora.
“What an unconventional traveler!” the tuna exclaimed.
------Knowledge Card------
The remora has an oval-shaped sucker on its head and back. Using this sucker, the remora can attach itself to animals like sharks, whales, and dolphins, and sometimes to the bottom of ships, allowing it to travel effortlessly in the ocean. Because of this, the remora has earned the nickname “the free traveler.”
