QQ Diary: A Touching Love Story

Good Morning

The alarm rang precisely at 6:15 AM. To ensure I wouldn’t oversleep, I deliberately chose Angela’s noisy “Shangri-La” as the ringtone.

Groggily, I opened my eyes, stretched, and turned over, only to find a woman lying next to me, giving me quite a scare. Oh, it’s my girlfriend. But what was that momentary surprise about? Who else would be lying next to me besides her? And why did I have this fleeting feeling of guilt, as if I had been caught cheating? A bit of inexplicable confusion clouded my thoughts.

She was evidently woken up by the alarm too. With sleep still on her face, she pouted and sat up, her hair a mess and her sleepy eyes looking at me. The loose sleepwear had slipped off one shoulder, and at this moment, she looked so cute and charming that I couldn’t resist wanting to kiss her.

“Why are you up so early?” she pouted and complained.

“I forgot to turn off the alarm, but since we’re already up, can you make me breakfast?”

“I still want to sleep,” she pouted discontentedly.

“Sweetheart, can you pass me the toothpaste?”

“Mm~~” she mumbled a response and groped around the shelf for the toothpaste, handing me the mouthwash instead.

“Sweetheart, this is mouthwash.”

“Ugh~~” she groped around again and handed me hair removal cream.

“Sweetheart, if you’re so sleepy, just go back to bed. I can make breakfast myself.” I couldn’t bear it any longer and grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste.

“Hmm?” she turned her head, mouth full of foam, half-squinting at me, “I’m not sleepy. What do you want to eat?” Then, without waiting for my answer, she rinsed her mouth and wobbled into the kitchen.

“Uh, I’d like some plain rice noodles with a bit of greens. There are vegetables in the fridge,” I called towards the kitchen.

“Do you want eggs?” came the clattering sounds from the kitchen.

“No, just plain rice noodles is fine.”

“Okay,” her sleep-laden voice made me chuckle.

Five or six minutes later, she came out of the kitchen, still half-asleep, carrying a large bowl which she placed on the table.

“I want to sleep,” she pouted, eyes half-closed, and unsteadily walked back to the bedroom.

I followed her into the bedroom and saw her lying on her side on the bed, pouting. Smiling, I kissed her cheek, then left the room, closing the door behind me. I picked up the bowl of tomato and egg noodles she had made and started eating…
