Nature conservation story : The Grandpa with the Silver Beard and His Painting
In the city, there lived a grandpa with a silver beard who grew up in the countryside before moving to the city. He missed the little birds and animals from the countryside so much that he commissioned a painting of a large forest.
After retiring, the grandpa with the silver beard took the painting back to the mountain where he used to play as a child, to go camping. However, the once lush and verdant forest was gone, and there were no birds chirping anymore.
That night, he hung the painting at the entrance of his tent and lay down inside, reminiscing about his childhood memories.
When the moon was high in the sky, a few birds suddenly flew in chirping. Thinking it was an illusion, the grandpa opened his eyes wide and listened carefully. Indeed, there were a few birds.
Strangely, all the birds were perched on the painting at the tent’s entrance.
“Grandpa with the silver beard, our home is gone. Can we live in the forest in your painting?” one of the birds spoke.
Hearing this, the grandpa was so moved he almost cried. He quickly said, “Yes, yes, go ahead. My painting is your home!”
The birds happily flew into the painting, fluttering around the forest within it.
After a while, footsteps approached the grandpa’s tent—it was a few small wild animals. These homeless little creatures, warmly invited by the grandpa, also entered the forest in the painting.
A few days later, the grandpa took his painting back to the city and hung it in his room.
Late at night, the birds and wild animals in the painting would come out to chat lively with the grandpa.
The birds and wild animals on the mountain lost their home. Do you know what might have caused this? Please think about it and share your thoughts positively!
- Deforestation: Trees might have been cut down for timber, agricultural expansion, or urban development.
- Climate Change: Changes in the climate can lead to the degradation of forests.
- Natural Disasters: Events such as wildfires, storms, or floods can destroy large areas of forest.
- Pollution: Contamination of the environment through chemicals or waste can lead to the death of trees and wildlife.
