In the autumn, the little field mouse, Walker, suddenly had a secret of his own.
What secret, you ask? Well, of course, he couldn’t tell anyone—not even his good friend, Little Forest Mouse. If everyone knew, it wouldn’t be a secret anymore!
With his secret, Walker became different from before. Just think, who else could have their own secret? Not even his good friend, Little Forest Mouse, had one! Thinking this, Walker proudly walked down the street, proudly crossed the square, proudly strolled through the park… and proudly walked around the field mouse castle.
One day, Walker suddenly noticed that his good friend, Little Forest Mouse, was running up and down the hillside.
What was Little Forest Mouse doing, running back and forth? Walker laughed. Little Forest Mouse still didn’t know that he had a secret! So, Walker ran over and walked past Little Forest Mouse.
But Little Forest Mouse didn’t notice him.
Walker walked past Little Forest Mouse again.
Little Forest Mouse still didn’t notice him.
Walker walked past Little Forest Mouse once more.
Little Forest Mouse still didn’t notice him.
This made Walker very angry.
“Little Forest Mouse, I have a secret, but you don’t even look at me!” Walker couldn’t hold it in any longer and finally shouted at Little Forest Mouse.
“Oh—” Little Forest Mouse stopped, “Sorry, Walker! I’m busy right now.”
“What are you doing?” Walker was stunned.
“I’m listening to the Autumn wind singing. Don’t you think this year is special? When the wind blows through the treetops, it’s like it’s singing a beautiful song,” Little Forest Mouse replied.
“I didn’t tell you—” Walker asked in surprise, “How did you know…”
“I know, Little Hare knows, Little Hedgehog knows, Uncle Badger knows… the entire field mouse castle knows!” Little Forest Mouse said with a smile.
“I thought only I knew.” Walker’s face turned red in an instant, “I’m sorry, Little Forest Mouse, I thought it was my own secret.”
