Mouse brothers story : The Roof Lawn
The three mouse brothers lived in a three-story small building with a flat roof.
Because the roof was flat, every summer, Mouse Little on the third floor couldn’t stand it.
“It’s so hot, so hot! The sun has made the roof as hot as a frying pan!” Mouse Little exclaimed.
Mouse Big came up with an idea and led Mouse Second and Mouse Little to climb onto the roof and plant some lalang grass.
Lalang grass is fine, resilient, and grows densely, making it perfect for a lawn.
This way, the roof of the mouse brothers’ house became a green lawn, and Mouse Little no longer felt hot.
Originally, this story would have ended here, but unexpectedly, a disaster occurred later, leading to the following story.
As autumn approached, it suddenly rained for three days and nights, resulting in a flood. The village was flooded, and the water kept rising. It rose and rose, submerging doors, windows, and finally, the entire small building was submerged.
The mouse brothers first ran to the second floor, then to the third floor. When the water completely submerged the house, they had to run to the roof.
The mouse brothers sat on the lawn on the roof, waiting for the flood to recede.
At this time, neighbors in the village struggled to swim over and climb onto the lawn. Their houses were also flooded, but their roofs were pointed and had no lawns, so they couldn’t sit.
“This lawn is a lifesaver!” All the neighbors who took refuge on the lawn said.
Eventually, the entire lawn was crowded, with not a single empty spot left. If the fathers hadn’t held their children on their heads or let them ride on their shoulders, the lawn wouldn’t have accommodated everyone.
The whole village had only this one roof lawn, and it was this roof lawn that saved all the animals in the village.
Finally, the flood receded. When everyone returned to the village to repair their water-damaged houses, the first thing they did was to change their pointed roofs to flat ones, just like the mouse brothers’ building.
The mouse brothers were very busy; they had to run from house to house to guide the neighbors in setting up lawns on their roofs.
