Mouse and Tiger Story: The Little Mouse and the Big Tiger

I’m a mouse, see? A tiny, little mouse.

And that big, tall, strong fellow behind me? That’s the big tiger.

We’re good friends.

But, well… how do I put this? We do have a few small issues…

Every time we play “Wild West Cowboys,” the big tiger always gets to be the good guy, and I always end up as the bad guy.

The big tiger says, “The good guy always wins in the end!”

Sigh, what can I say? I’m just a tiny, little mouse.

Every time we divide sweet donuts, the piece the big tiger gets is always bigger than mine.

The big tiger says, “This is the right way to divide them!”

Sigh, what can I say? I’m just a tiny, little mouse.

Every time we see a flower we want, the big tiger always orders me to jump down and pick it for him.

The big tiger says, “What a beautiful flower!”

Sigh, what can I say? I’m just a tiny, little mouse.

One day, I built a castle out of blocks. It was the biggest castle I had ever made!

“Look, Big Tiger!” I was so proud.

But the big tiger didn’t even turn his head; he just said in a strange, sarcastic voice, “Oh, not bad.”

Suddenly, he jumped up, roared “Hi-yah!” and used his newly learned karate skills to kick my castle apart!

“Enough!” I shouted, furious. “I’m never playing with you again! I may be a tiny, little mouse, but you’re just a big, mean bully! Hmph, goodbye!”

I was so angry, so sad!

The big tiger came to find me.

Turns out, he had rebuilt my castle. Really, he did! But I told him, “I still don’t want to be your friend.”

The big tiger said, “Want to play ‘Wild West Cowboys’? This time, you can be the good guy, and I’ll be the bad guy.”

Ha! I finally got to be the good guy! But I told him, “I still don’t want to be your friend.”

Then the big tiger said, “How about some donuts? This time, you get the bigger piece, and I’ll take the smaller one.”

Ha! I finally got the bigger piece! But I told him, “I still don’t want to be your friend.”

Finally, the big tiger said, “Do you want a flower? This time, I’ll go down and pick it for you!”

Ha! I pointed at a random flower, and he bravely jumped down to get it…

“Maybe…” I sniffed the flower and told him, “Maybe I’ll be your friend, but only maybe.”

The big tiger was so happy when he heard that.

Since that day, we’ve happily played together again—

Sometimes I’m the good guy, and sometimes he is.

Sometimes I pick the flowers, and sometimes he does.

Oh, and when we have donuts, we each get half! It’s just perfect!

But, there’s one more problem…

A new, even bigger and stronger guy has shown up! Oh no—
