Love story of magician
Magician Tony and Jane fell in love at first sight at a party. Their love was passionate and radiant, and they both believed they had found their lifelong partner in each other.
Despite Jane being a naive woman who knew nothing about life and often got lost, Tony loved her like a daughter and took care of her meticulously. Ten years passed this way, and they had a son and a daughter. Their family lived happily.
One day, a neighbor told Jane that they saw Tony intimately walk into a bar with another woman. Jane didn’t believe it. But that night, Tony indeed came home very late. Jane hid behind the curtains and saw Tony sitting in a young woman’s car, hugging her goodbye. Jane was stunned. It felt like a heavy blow; if she lost Tony, what meaning would life have?
She looked at herself in the dressing mirror, feeling heartbroken and lost in thought. For so many years, she truly knew nothing. Apart from taking care of the children, she couldn’t do anything. She couldn’t even cook properly and often got lost outside. Every bit of her life depended on Tony.
Oh God, Tony had done so much for her; he must be feeling exhausted. That’s why he always used work as an excuse, just to find solace elsewhere. No wonder he recently kept praising Mrs. Angela’s cooking and saying Miss Catherine had become mature and sensible. It was all indirect criticism of her. In the end, she asked Tony nothing.
After crying her heart out, Jane decided to change herself, to learn how to live and take care of Tony, to win him back from others.
She started learning to cook by watching TV shows and following recipes. Tony and the kids were pleasantly surprised. Although her initial attempts were pretty bad and she often burned herself, she had a talent for cooking. Soon, she could make delicious meals. She also found that with a little observation, remembering any route was easy. She became an excellent housewife, no longer dependent on Tony.
Unexpectedly, Tony became more and more dependent on her, even needing her help to tie his tie. He also preferred staying at home more, and the instances of coming home late decreased.
Interestingly, once Jane’s curiosity was aroused, she was no longer satisfied with just staying at home doing chores. She wanted to work outside, even though Tony’s income was enough for the whole family. Finally, she found a job as a translator. She became increasingly confident and charming, deeply attracting Tony and even many other men.
The affair crisis faded away, and they continued their beautiful life as if in a passionate love affair.
Misfortune struck suddenly. Six months later, Tony unfortunately passed away from liver cancer. After immense grief, Jane, according to Tony’s will, opened the safe. In a beautifully crafted large envelope, Jane unexpectedly found a letter Tony had written before his death:
“My dear Jane, when I first learned I had cancer, my immediate concern was how you and the children would manage. Your life skills were too poor. With my care before, how would you cope without me? How could I be at ease?
To train you to live independently, I took this extreme measure, deliberately finding someone to pose as a third party to stimulate you. This also tested your love for me. You loved me so much that you didn’t expose it and chose to change instead.
“I’m delighted that in such a short time, you have rapidly grown. Now, I can rest assured that you can face all kinds of life challenges alone. This is the last magic trick I performed for you, turning you from a life idiot into an independent and confident person. I am proud and happy for you.
“Don’t cry for me. Seeing you live well on your own is my greatest comfort. Thank heaven for giving you to me. I will bless you from heaven.”
Tears streamed down Jane’s face instantly.
How deep must a man’s love be to think only of arranging his wife’s future life well when facing death, even at the cost of being misunderstood by her? Tony did it.
How deeply must a woman love a man to be willing to change herself completely, alter decades of living habits, and strive to win him back from an affair? Jane did it too.
Tony’s last magic was not an illusion of light and shadow, but a reflection of their true love…
