Little Bunny Story: Little Bunny Competes in Beauty

Little Bunny was thrilled to be starting kindergarten. She eagerly asked her mom to buy her a floral dress and red shoes because she wanted to be the prettiest child in the kindergarten.

On the first day of school, Little Bunny happily arrived at kindergarten with her mom, only to see the puppy, little fox, and hedgehog at the classroom door, all crying and refusing to let their moms leave. Little Bunny thought, “How embarrassing! I don’t need my mom to stay with me.” So, she loudly said to her mom, “Mom, come pick me up early in the evening.” Then she hopped into the classroom.

Panda Teacher saw Little Bunny and smiled, saying, “You look so pretty.” Little Bunny looked around proudly and said, “Hmph, look at those crybabies, dressed so poorly. Of course, I’m the prettiest.”

The kindergarten was full of toys. Little Bunny grabbed this one, played with that one, and wished all the toys were hers. She stared intently until she saw the toy tractor in Little Lamb’s hands. It looked fun, so Little Bunny hopped over and grabbed it right away. Little Lamb was so frightened that he started crying loudly. Panda Teacher scolded Little Bunny, but Little Bunny stubbornly replied, “I’m the prettiest, so I should get to play with the best toys.”

At lunchtime, Panda Teacher purposely seated the lively Little Bunny next to the introverted Little Bear. When Little Bunny saw that lunch was carrots, she thought, “Eating carrots will make me less pretty.” So, she quietly put all the carrots into Little Bear’s bowl. Little Bear saw Little Bunny glaring at him with her red eyes and was too scared to say anything. But Panda Teacher noticed and told Little Bunny, “Doing that doesn’t make you beautiful.” However, Little Bunny thought to herself, “I wear new clothes every day, so of course, I’m the prettiest every day.”

The next day, Little Bunny wore another new outfit and happily went to kindergarten. But strangely, Panda Teacher didn’t compliment her appearance. Little Bunny tried to play with Little Lamb and Little Bear, but they both ran away.

After school, Panda Teacher asked everyone to vote for the prettiest child, but no one voted for Little Bunny. Little Bunny was angry and stood up, shouting, “I’m the prettiest! I’m wearing new clothes that my mom bought!”

Panda Teacher smiled and said, “Clothes are external beauty, but inner beauty is what truly makes someone beautiful.”

“What is inner beauty?” Little Bunny asked in confusion.

“Tomorrow, try to make your friends happy, and you’ll find out what inner beauty is.”

Little Bunny was puzzled but decided to give it a try. On the third day, she shared her toys with Little Lamb, who had been crying. Seeing the toys, Little Lamb stopped crying and smiled, “Thank you, Bunny Sister.”

At lunch, Little Bunny was about to put vegetables into Little Bear’s bowl again but remembered Panda Teacher’s words. So, she ate her meal heartily and said to Little Bear, “You’re younger than me, so I’ll help you carry your food.” Little Bear quickly said, “Bunny Sister, you’re so beautiful and so cool.”

All day long, Little Bunny tried to make her friends happy. She was so busy that her face became smudged, and her new clothes were stained with her friends’ tears and food crumbs, but she didn’t mind. In the afternoon, when her mom came to pick her up, Panda Teacher was smiling at the door again and said, “Little Bunny, you’re truly beautiful.” All her friends were calling, “Bunny Sister! Bunny Sister!” Little Bunny felt a warm happiness in her heart, and she finally understood that this was what inner beauty meant. It felt wonderful.
