Leaf Carpet

In the center of the forest, there was a patch of grass. The grass grew really well, lush and dense, like a large green carpet.

Dudu Bear jumped onto the grass and rolled around, feeling the grass tips tickling his neck in a delightful way. Mao Mao Monkey came into the grass and did somersaults, the thick grass made it safe for him to play without worrying about falling. Rabbit Duoduo danced happily on the grass.

White White Bear arrived and saw his friends playing. Just as he was about to join them, he noticed a fallen sign at the edge of the grass. He turned it over and saw it read: “Little grass can feel pain, please take care of the grass!”

White White Bear pointed at the sign and said to everyone, “Come out!”

Dudu Bear, Mao Mao Monkey, and Rabbit Duoduo quickly walked out of the grass upon seeing the sign.

“This is an artificially laid grass patch, meant for beautification and enjoyment. We can’t step on it!” Dudu Bear explained.

“Oh! So we can’t play on this grass!” Rabbit Duoduo stuck out her tongue.

“What a bummer, we can’t play here!” Mao Mao Monkey pouted, still wanting to have fun.

“Wait! I have an idea!” White White Bear looked at the falling leaves and said, “We can collect leaves and make a leaf carpet.”

“Great!”

The friends happily started gathering the fallen leaves, which were yellow, red, half-red, half-green, and half-yellow, half-red; they also had different shapes—some were heart-shaped, round, fan-shaped, and oval… They used the collected leaves to create a colorful leaf carpet.

On the leaf carpet, the friends sang, danced, and walked…

“Rustle, rustle…”

“Snap, crackle…”

“Tap, tap, tap…”

The leaf carpet began to sing along. Slowly, the leaf carpet stopped singing because it got crushed under their feet.

The friends picked up the crushed leaves and placed them at the foot of the big tree mom.
