Kind “Wolf Eyes”

Every morning, the animals would be awakened from their dreams by the crow of the little rooster. Everyone was fond of this thoughtful “little alarm clock.” But today, no one heard the rooster’s crow. Could it be that the hardworking little rooster overslept?

The little rabbit said, “Let’s go check on the rooster!”

So, the little rabbit and the firefly went to the rooster’s house. The place was a mess, and to their surprise, they found the rooster lying on the ground, groaning in pain.

“What happened to you?” The little rabbit and the firefly hurried over, full of concern.

With a weak voice, the little rooster said, “Last night, a fox came to steal things. I tried to stop him, but he bit me like this…”

“That awful fox!” Everyone was furious.

“The fox said he’ll come back tonight to eat me…” The little rooster pointed tearfully at a small wooden sign and said, “Hurry and write a notice to warn everyone not to go out tonight!”

The little rabbit quickly wrote on the wooden sign: Beware of the fox at night! Stay inside!

The firefly’s eyes gleamed, and she said, “Isn’t this just showing weakness to the fox?”

The firefly took the sign and rewrote it: Beware of wolves at night! Stay inside! They hung the sign in front of the rooster’s house, hoping to scare the fox away.

That night, the fox indeed came. Under the moonlight, he saw the wooden sign and sneered cunningly, “Trying to scare me with such a silly trick? No way! I’m going to eat that rooster!”

The fox rammed into the rooster’s door, and the door shook violently, about to burst open. Suddenly, the fox felt a cold breeze at the back of his head. When he turned around, he saw a pair of eyes, glowing coldly in the dark forest, glaring at him!

“There really is a wolf! Help!” The fox’s legs turned to jelly, and he scrambled away in fear.

The pair of terrifying “eyes” approached the rooster’s door. Inside, the rooster trembled with fear. Suddenly, someone outside called, “Rooster, my sister and I have come to see you, hand in hand…”

“Oh, it’s the fireflies!” The little rooster happily opened the door.

From then on, every night, those “wolf eyes” would patrol the village, and the fox never dared to return.
