Kids story about courage: The Courage of the Little Mouse
One day, little mouse Jim was staying at home with a rumbling stomach. The leftover gruel and crunchy rice bits from last night had all been eaten, and there was nothing left to fill his belly. Suddenly, Jim noticed a piece of cheese near the entrance of the hole, and he could even smell the tempting aroma of the cheese. But… Jim hesitated. Looking out from the hole, the outside world seemed like a giant monster with a wide-open mouth, ready to swallow him up at any moment.
Finally, hunger overcame Jim’s inner fear. He cautiously poked his head out and carefully surveyed this unfamiliar world. At that moment, even the slightest unusual sound would make Jim give up on the delicious cheese and quickly retreat back into the hole. However, fortunately, there wasn’t a sound; the house was quiet.
In the blink of an eye, Jim darted out like lightning and grabbed the piece of cheese. “Hey, Jim!” Someone was calling him?! Jim was startled, and the cheese almost fell out of his mouth. “Don’t be afraid, it’s me.” It turned out to be his good friend Jimmy. The piece of cheese had been placed on the ground by her. Little Jimmy had finally helped her friend overcome his inner fear and step out of the mouse hole.
Jim curiously looked around. It was a large room with a big table in the middle, laden with delicious chicken, duck, fish, and meat, as well as a bowl of fragrant cheese. Jim wasn’t so scared anymore, and he and Jimmy happily enjoyed this rare feast.
But just then, a shadow in the corner was quietly creeping towards them. Suddenly, “Meow!” The shadow leaped towards Jim; it was a fierce big tabby cat. Jim turned around, only to see a ferocious cat’s face with a wide-open mouth full of sharp teeth. Jim was so scared that his legs went weak, and he thought, “It’s over!”
In the nick of time, Jimmy suddenly rammed into the big tabby cat. The cat, caught off guard, stumbled. Taking advantage of the situation, Jim dashed forward and escaped from under the cat’s claws.
The big tabby cat was startled but then focused and realized that the one who dared to attack him was just a little mouse. Now he was furious. The tabby cat let Jim go and pounced towards Jimmy. Jimmy tried to run, but it was too late. The tabby cat’s sharp claws swiped across Jimmy’s face. Before she could recover, the cat pinned her tail to the ground.
“Hmph, let’s see you run now!” The tabby cat showed a vicious grin.
It all seemed to happen in the blink of an eye. Jim, standing nearby, was petrified. His legs were trembling uncontrollably, his heart was pounding fiercely, and blood was rushing to his head. What should he do? In front of him was the cat that had always terrified him. Should he run? But under the cat’s claws was his best friend!
The tabby cat finally bared its sharp teeth and was about to bite Jimmy. Without thinking any further, Jim took a step forward, twisted his body, and with a “whoosh,” he pounced towards the tabby cat. The cat, full of pride, suddenly felt a sharp pain at the base of his tail. “Ouch!” It turned out that Jim had bitten the tabby cat’s tail, causing the cat to howl in pain and dash away, never daring to return.
“The nasty tabby cat ran away!” The two little mice cheered.
The two little mice had used their courage to defeat the fierce tabby cat. Jim had also overcome his inner fear and no longer had to hide in the small mouse hole all day.
