The Kangaroo Sister’s family moved to a new home in Animal Village.

Many new friends in the village, such as Little Monkey and Little Rabbit, enthusiastically invited Kangaroo Sister to play in the forest.

The friends noticed that Kangaroo Sister had a pocket on her chest. It was truly a magical pocket: fluffy, soft, and elastic. It could be used to store things, keeping them safe and secure. In the cold winter, putting hands in the pocket would be very warm and comfortable. Little Monkey said that when Kangaroo Sister grew up and had her own children, the pocket could even be used as a baby sleeping bag! Hearing this, all the friends laughed happily.

Because of her unique pocket, Kangaroo Sister’s face showed a look of pride.

The friends were very envious of Kangaroo Sister’s pocket. They picked wild fruits, gathered mushrooms, and dug up carrots, all wanting to put them in her pocket. Kangaroo Sister, although it increased her burden, was still happy to help everyone.

The friends grew to like Kangaroo Sister more and more. Today, Little Rabbit invited her to pull up green vegetables together; tomorrow, Little Chicken asked her to pick grains together; and another day, Little Monkey invited her to pick peaches. When Kangaroo Sister brought the green vegetables, golden grains, and rosy peaches home, the friends always remembered to share the fruits of their labor with her.

However, gradually, Kangaroo Sister lost the enthusiasm and excitement she had at the beginning.

One day, the friends were playing games in the forest. Only Kangaroo Sister was missing.

Where was Kangaroo Sister? She was not far behind them, walking slowly by herself, pouting. She felt very uncomfortable: Hmph, you all just play games while all the things are in my pocket, treating me like a “transport bag”!

On the way home, Kangaroo Sister was no longer as happy as usual. She remained silent, keeping a distance from her friends. She kept thinking, trying to come up with a good idea so that everyone would stop putting things in her pocket, and she would no longer be anyone’s “transport bag.”

At home, Kangaroo Sister took out her mom’s sewing kit. She wanted to sew her pocket shut. But the thin needle pricked her skin, hurting so much that she almost cried. Alas, “Plan A” couldn’t be carried out because Kangaroo Sister couldn’t bear the pain.

Kangaroo Sister continued to think by the window, resting her chin on her hand. She saw Uncle Bear’s family across the street pasting window decorations with paste. An idea flashed in her mind. She went to Uncle Bear’s house to get some paste and applied it to her pocket. But she found that the paste didn’t work on the pocket; it only made it wet, while the pocket still remained open. “Plan B” also failed.

That night, Kangaroo Sister tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. She kept thinking: what could stick the pocket together without causing pain?

The next morning, the sun rose with a round face, and Kangaroo Sister quietly went to the forest alone. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, shining on the pine tree trunks, where golden pine resin glittered. Kangaroo Sister collected some sticky resin and carefully applied it to her pocket. She pressed the pocket with her hands, smoothing it out. Ah! A miracle happened—the pocket and her body stuck together without any gaps, as if the pocket never existed.

When the friends went out, they invited Kangaroo Sister as usual. When they tried to put things in her pocket, she patted her chest, spread her hands, and said, “No more pocket, it’s broken!”

Little Monkey jumped up to check and found that the pocket was indeed gone!

Little Monkey said regretfully, “Oh, it’s our fault for using your pocket so often.”

Little Chicken and Little Rabbit felt very sorry and said, “It’s our fault for stuffing carrots and grains into your pocket, causing it to break. We’re really sorry!”

Kangaroo Sister shook her head and said nonchalantly, “It’s okay, it’s okay!”

On the way home, the friends carried their food themselves. They still didn’t forget to share some with Kangaroo Sister. Kangaroo Sister ate the food given by her friends, hopping along happily.

Days went by, and Kangaroo Sister no longer had to carry things for others. Little Chicken, Little Rabbit, Little Monkey, and Kangaroo Sister remained the best of friends.

One day, Kangaroo Mother asked Kangaroo Sister to gather wild vegetables in the forest. Kangaroo Sister worked hard all morning, finally piling up a heap of wild vegetables. She needed to put them in her pocket to carry home. She touched her chest and remembered that her pocket was sealed. She tried to tear it open, but it seemed to be fused with her skin, hurting her all over when she pulled. What should she do? Kangaroo Sister was about to cry.

At that moment, familiar voices echoed through the forest:

“Kangaroo Sister—don’t worry, we’ll help you!”

Kangaroo Sister looked up and saw her friends coming! Suddenly, she burst into tears, and the tears flowed down to her chest.

Strangely enough, where the tears flowed, a gap appeared, and the pocket gradually reopened…

“Ah, Kangaroo Sister has a pocket again!” The friends cheered happily.

Kangaroo Sister lowered her head in embarrassment…
