Inspirational Short Story for Kids: A Wobbling Travel Group
A group of ducks set off on a journey.
This was a wobbling group. Mr. Long Neck was holding a small triangular flag; he was the leader of this group. Mrs. Short Legs walked at the back because she was really too fat, and when she walked, she wobbled particularly hard. She had a small whistle hanging around her neck so that if she fell too far behind, she could blow the whistle to ask everyone to wait for her. However, she hoped she wouldn’t have to use the whistle because that would trouble everyone.
The news that the ducks were going on a trip caused a stir in the whole town. The ducklings, puppies, kittens, piglets, lambs, as well as the bunnies and little mice, all came out to watch, forming a group that seemed to be sending them off.
The talkative bunny was the first to speak: “Mr. Long Neck, I’m really worried about you all. Can such a group really go on a journey? You’ll probably break up before you’ve gone very far!”
The chicks said, “We walk much faster than you. We don’t want to go on a trip and suffer like you.”
The squeaky little mouse said, “Farewell, Mr. and Mrs. Duck. Perhaps we’ll never see you again.”
The piglet mischievously added, “Mr. Fox is waiting for you behind the mountain…”
A month later, the group of ducks returned, still wobbling.
However, they were in much better spirits than when they left. The small triangular flag that Mr. Long Neck held was a bit tattered, but he still held it high as if it were a flag that had been tested in a rain of bullets.
Of course, the whole town was abuzz again.
The little mouse, who thought they had said their final goodbyes to the ducks, asked, “You’re back so soon. Did your trip fail?”
“No!” Mrs. Short Legs said. “On the contrary, we succeeded. Along the way, we tried to walk as little on land as possible and took the water routes instead. We encouraged each other, and even I, the fat one, made it through!”
Everyone noticed that Mrs. Short Legs had become much stronger and was also more agile.
A little gray duck couldn’t help but share all the experiences they had on the journey—those unforgettable mountains, rivers, forests, distant cities, and towns, as well as the strange new friends they had met…
The piglet listened in awe.
As the chicks listened, they started chirping and chattering, discussing plans to organize their own travel group.
Finally, the usually silent goat asked, “Who helped you succeed in your journey?”
The ducks waved their small triangular flag and proudly said, “Confidence and unity!”
