Heartwarming romantic story: The Little Gift Box of Friendship
Lisa hardly ever goes out now; she spends most of her time leaning against the window, looking outside.
The reason Lisa doesn’t want to engage with the outside world is that she was unfortunately involved in a car accident, which left her paralyzed from the waist down, and now she can only sit in a wheelchair.
However, sympathy has made Lisa even more self-conscious. Before the accident, she was a very cheerful girl. Now she neither wants to go out nor communicate with anyone.
One day, as Lisa was leaning against the window, a delivery truck passed by. The truck was moving slowly, and the driver glanced at Lisa’s window. In that moment, Lisa saw his face clearly—it was Walker!!
Walker was Lisa’s classmate. Before graduating from high school, Lisa had a secret crush on Walker. However, before graduation, Walker moved to France with his mother due to family reasons. Lisa had recently heard that Walker had returned.
Seeing Walker made Lisa’s heart race. But Walker didn’t see her.
Lisa wanted to call his name but hesitated. She had heard that Walker had a good job, and being a delivery man was just his side gig. Facing such an outstanding guy, Lisa couldn’t muster the courage.
Despite this, Lisa subconsciously hoped every day that Walker’s delivery truck would appear in front of her window. Just a glimpse of Walker would make her feel content! First day, second day… for several days in a row, Lisa waited by the window.
She secretly hoped to see Walker pass by. Sometimes she saw Walker greeting and chatting with the girls next door who were receiving their deliveries, and Lisa felt a bit jealous.
But she didn’t dare to call out Walker’s name. Even if she did, it wouldn’t matter; she could only sit in a wheelchair. No boy would like her, and neither would Walker.
Thinking this, Lisa felt desperate. She felt she shouldn’t fantasize about reuniting with Walker and thought herself foolish. After that, Lisa no longer waited by the window for Walker to appear. But she still couldn’t help listening for the sound of Walker delivering packages.
One day, she found that the delivery truck had stopped in front of her house, and then someone was ringing the doorbell.
The door opened, and it was indeed Walker. Lisa’s face turned red, and she didn’t dare to look at Walker’s handsome face.
Walker smiled and said, “So you live here, Lisa. How are you? This is your package.”
Lisa was a bit confused as she hadn’t ordered anything online. But her name was clearly on the address, so Lisa signed for the package.
After Walker left, Lisa opened the package and saw her favorite chocolates.
Lisa didn’t know who had sent her the gift, especially since her birthday was more than a week away. But that was secondary; seeing Walker today was the happiest thing.
So, Lisa had an idea. She started ordering some necessary things online so that she could see Walker every day!
Sure enough, the next day Walker’s delivery truck stopped in front of her house on time. Walker enthusiastically helped her cut open the tightly packed bag. Inside was a set of watercolor brushes.
Walker was surprised and asked, “Lisa, are you still painting watercolors?” Lisa nodded.
“Then you have to give me one of your paintings!” Walker requested.
“I’d be delighted!” Lisa’s clear eyes sparkled with a hint of surprise as she said this.
It was like having a new purpose. A few days later, when Walker came to deliver another package, Lisa gave him a finished watercolor painting.
It depicted the beauty of early summer: hazy clouds, tender water lilies, a distant stream…
Walker looked at it and praised, “Lisa, you have real talent! You should let more people see your work!” Lisa was very happy to receive Walker’s compliment and said, “Then I’ll paint more!”
From then on, whether or not there was a package to deliver, Walker would always stop by Lisa’s house for a moment when he passed by. One day, Walker came again with a large box.
Lisa was very surprised. When she opened it, she found colorful little gift boxes and a letter. The light purple letter read: “Lisa, we saw your watercolor paintings on Walker’s profile, and they are truly beautiful! Lisa, ever since your accident, we’ve grown distant, but we still love you! Happy Birthday!”
Lisa was stunned as she read the letter! It turned out that today was her birthday. She opened the gifts from her classmates one by one, and was moved to tears by their warm words.
She asked Walker, “What’s going on?”
It turned out that Walker had always liked Lisa too. Even during the years he lived in France with his mother, he never stopped thinking about Lisa.
After returning to the U.S., the first thing he wanted to do was find Lisa. But their classmates told him that ever since Lisa’s accident, she had become very self-conscious and unwilling to communicate with anyone.
Walker understood Lisa’s feelings very well, so he took up a part-time job as a delivery man, as it was the only way he could naturally interact with Lisa.
He knew Lisa had a talent for painting, so he asked her to give him a watercolor painting and posted it online.
When their classmates praised Lisa’s painting, Walker told them that Lisa’s birthday was coming up.
Their classmates understood Walker’s intention and prepared birthday gifts for Lisa, asking Walker to deliver a package of friendship and encouragement to her!
Hearing Walker’s explanation, Lisa tearfully asked, “I’m disabled, but did everyone really not make fun of me?”
Walker sincerely said, “Lisa, remember this: if a person has a physical disability, they must not let their spirit be disabled too. Your heart is healthy, so the world is beautiful and full of hope!”
Hearing this, Lisa was moved to tears.
