Gecko Story: Little Gecko Bobo
Little gecko Bobo was angry, his belly puffed up with frustration because no kids would play with him. Bobo decided to move away from that sad place and ventured into a desert.
A caterpillar, as thin as a toothpick and starving, pounced on him. It bit Bobo’s tail hard and said, “So delicious!”
In the end, seeing how pitiful the caterpillar was, Bobo broke off his own tail and roasted it for the caterpillar to eat. As he roasted it, Bobo tearfully told his own sad story.
“You’re so kind, how come you don’t have any friends?” the caterpillar asked, drooling.
Bobo looked helplessly at the caterpillar. This story started last year.
One day, Bobo found a piece of chocolate and immediately hid it under his bed.
“No, no, the neighbor’s mouse, Bick, will definitely steal it,” Bobo thought, recalling Bick’s sharp mouth. He quickly grabbed the chocolate and held it tightly in his arms.
“No, no, cockroach Xiao Qiang will eat it all up,” Bobo thought, remembering Xiao Qiang’s messy little legs, and hugged the chocolate even tighter.
This wouldn’t work, that wouldn’t work, what should he do?
Suddenly, Bobo had an idea. He was just missing a pillow, right? Yes, he would use the chocolate as a pillow. Who could steal it then?
When Bick heard that Bobo had found a piece of chocolate, he came knocking on Bobo’s door: “Bobo, I, Bick, have never seen chocolate before. Can you let me have a look?”
Hearing it was Bick, Bobo quickly covered his head with the blanket and silently chanted: I’m not home, I’m not home!
Soon after, Xiao Qiang also came: “Bobo, it’s better to share than eat alone. Sharing is a virtue! You’re not stingy, right?”
Hearing that Xiao Qiang had come, Bobo panicked. Holding the chocolate, he planned to escape through the back door. At this moment, Bick shouted: “Bobo, you’re home! You’re so stingy! We’re not going to play with you anymore!”
By then, the sun had risen, and the temperature inside the house was gradually increasing. The chocolate started to melt and eventually turned into a puddle of sticky, black syrup.
Bobo didn’t get to eat the chocolate and also lost his good friends.
After hearing Bobo’s story, the caterpillar felt sad. He patted Bobo on the shoulder and said, “I heard that gecko tails grow back after being broken off. If you can offer your tail every day, I believe you’ll have more friends.”
Hearing this, Bobo, scared of losing his tail again, ran away quickly! He continued to move from place to place, and every time he met other animals, he would tell them the story of how he had no friends…
Kids, when you hear a gecko telling this story, remember, that’s little gecko Bobo.
