Fun animal story for children: Sneezing Dog and Singing Cat
The sneezing dog, who loves to sneeze, and the singing cat, who loves to sing, are good friends.
One day, they were playing a game of hide-and-seek together.
The singing cat hid first. She climbed up into the fork of a small tree, and the green leaves of the tree covered her so well that the sneezing dog couldn’t find her no matter how hard he tried.
Then, the sneezing dog came up with a good idea. He hid in the grass and began to sing loudly:
“I have a dandelion,
She has fifteen little umbrellas;
Seven little umbrellas fly high,
Eight little umbrellas fly low;
Fifteen little umbrellas are really, really fun…”
This was the singing cat’s favorite song.
When the singing cat heard the song, she couldn’t help but hum along softly.
The sneezing dog perked up his ears and listened carefully. When he looked up, he spotted the singing cat hiding in the tree and caught her.
The singing cat said, “Hmph! Sneezing dog, you’re not so great. It was my singing that helped you!”
The sneezing dog replied, “No, it was my clever trick that caught you!”
Now it was the sneezing dog’s turn to hide.
The sneezing dog hid inside a small tree hole, and the thick foxtail grass covered the entrance so well that the singing cat couldn’t find the sneezing dog no matter how hard she tried.
Then, the singing cat came up with a good idea too. She started to sing:
“Oh dear, oh dear,
Who knocked over the pepper jar?
The spicy pepper powder,
Flew into my—itchy,
Itchy nose!
Achoo! Achoo…”
Upon hearing this song, the sneezing dog’s nose immediately started to itch, and he couldn’t hold back anymore. He let out a series of eight big sneezes: “Achoo! Achoo!” The singing cat pushed aside the foxtail grass and caught the sneezing dog.
The sneezing dog said, “Singing cat, that doesn’t count as skill. It was my eight sneezes that helped you!”
The singing cat replied, “No, it was my cleverness that caught you!”
