Fun and educational stories for kids: Rent a House

Bear Bao and Bunny Bei were passing by a big house when they heard Grandma Cat sighing, “I want to rent out this house, but no one has come to rent it.”

“How much are you asking for rent?” Bear Bao inquired.

“One hundred animal coins a month,” replied Grandma Cat. Bear Bao, who had a kind heart, said to Bunny Bei, “We need to help the old lady.” So, Bear Bao and Bunny Bei stood in front of the house and shouted, “House for rent! Come and rent!”

Mr. Deer rode by on his motorcycle. Bunny Bei asked him, “Do you want to rent a house?” Mr. Deer asked about the price and said, “One hundred animal coins is too expensive. I can only afford ten.”

Ten animal coins were too little, and Grandma Cat wasn’t happy with that. Bunny Bei then asked, “Would you be staying in the house all the time?”

“No. I’m a deliveryman, and I’m very busy during the day,” Mr. Deer said. “I just need a place to sleep at night.”

“Then why don’t you just rent the bedroom?” Bunny Bei asked Grandma Cat, “Would ten animal coins be enough for that?” Grandma Cat nodded. Mr. Deer was pleased and immediately rented the bedroom.

It turned out that this was a great idea. Now Bear Bao knew how to promote the house. He quickly found another tenant—Mr. Owl. Mr. Owl worked every night after sunset and only needed the bedroom to sleep during the day.

Bunny Bei rented the yard to Uncle Cow, who loved gardening but didn’t have a yard at home. Now he could use this rented yard to his heart’s content.

Bear Bao rented the balcony to Auntie Sheep, who often needed to dry things—sometimes clothes, sometimes sheets. Having an extra balcony was a big help for her.

Chef Pig came running over, saying, “Our restaurant’s kitchen is too small. I’d like to rent your kitchen!”

Monkey with Glasses also arrived, saying, “I want to rent the study. I have too many books at home with no place to put them!”

More and more tenants came, and Grandma Cat’s house was quickly rented out. When all the rent was added up, it totaled exactly one hundred animal coins.

“By the way, who rented the living room?” Bunny Bei asked Bear Bao.

“I did,” Bear Bao scratched his head, “because the living room has a TV. My mom never lets me watch TV, so after I finish my homework, I’ll come here… But I only have five animal coins.”

“I’ll cover the other five,” Bunny Bei said. “We’ll share the living room. After watching TV, we can sing and draw together!” Bear Bao laughed heartily at that.

From then on, the house was always bustling with activity, so lively that even Grandma Cat wanted to rent a room there herself!

Expert Commentary:

This story is novel and interesting, with the two main characters using their brains to help the old lady rent out the house to different people. When we encounter difficulties, we shouldn’t get stuck in a rut. Instead, like Bear Bao and Bunny Bei, we should try to think from a different angle. This often leads to unexpected results.
