Frog-Dragon has been very troubled lately.
When he feels troubled, he goes to sit under the big tree and daydream. Frog-Dragon is a type of dragon that looks very much like a frog, but is slightly bigger than a frog. However, he isn’t a frog; he is a dragon.
A crow lives in the tree, so the crow thinks it’s his tree. The crow finds it strange that Frog-Dragon comes every day.
“Frog-Dragon, you keep hanging around under my tree, and it makes it inconvenient for me to poop,” said the crow.
“Why?” asked Frog-Dragon.
“Because I’m afraid I’ll poop on your head.”
“But I’m feeling so troubled,” said Frog-Dragon.
“What is troubling you?” asked the crow.
“Sigh,” Frog-Dragon sighed first, “because I have fallen in love with a little frog girl.”
“Oh, I see,” said the crow, “it must be that the little frog girl you like doesn’t like you. That’s why you’re troubled.”
Frog-Dragon shook his head, “No. She said she likes me.”
Then, Frog-Dragon told the crow a story:
Once, when Frog-Dragon was trying to catch bugs, he was clumsy and couldn’t catch any.
At this moment, a little frog girl came along. She took off the necklace hanging around her neck and gave it to Frog-Dragon, saying, “Here, eat this.”
Frog-Dragon took a look and realized that the necklace was made of beetles strung together.
Frog-Dragon ate the beetle necklace while watching the little frog girl walk away. At that moment, he fell in love with her.
Frog-Dragon called out to her, “I like you.”
The little frog girl turned around and said, “I like you too.”
Then, she jumped into the pond with a splash and disappeared.
“…So, I feel troubled.” Frog-Dragon added after finishing the story.
“You like her, and she likes you, so why are you troubled?” asked the crow.
“The problem is, I don’t know who she is,” said Frog-Dragon.
The crow almost fell off the tree upon hearing this.
“Isn’t she the little frog girl who gave you the beetle necklace?” the crow thought: How could Frog-Dragon not understand such a simple thing?
“Sigh, I can’t explain it to you,” said Frog-Dragon, “I better go find her again.”
Frog-Dragon left the crow’s tree and went to the pond. There were many little frog girls playing there.
He asked every little frog girl he met, “Hello, is it you who likes me?”
Every little frog girl answered him, “Yes. It’s me who likes you.”
Frog-Dragon felt helpless, “Oh no, oh no, there should be only one little frog girl who likes me, but now every little frog girl says she likes me. It seems I can’t find her…”
So Frog-Dragon felt troubled.
When Frog-Dragon went back to the crow’s tree again, the crow asked, “You must at least remember what she looks like, right?”
Frog-Dragon said, “Of course I remember.”
“Then it should be easy to find her,” said the crow.
Frog-Dragon shook his head and sighed again, “No, in my eyes, every little frog girl looks exactly the same…”
This time, upon hearing Frog-Dragon’s words, the crow really did fall out of the tree.
