Fox and Pig: Pig Brother and Pig Brother
In the spring, Daddy Pig planted a large field of watermelons. When the watermelons ripened in the summer, Daddy Pig set up a small melon shed in the field. In the evening, Daddy Pig asked Pig Brother and Pig Brother to go to the field to watch the watermelons.
Pig Brother and Pig Brother came to the small melon shed together.
Pig Brother yawned and said to Pig Brother, “I’ll sleep first, you watch the watermelons.”
Pig Brother rubbed his eyes and said to Pig Brother, “You watch the watermelons first, I’ll sleep first.”
Pig Brother said, “The little brother should listen to the big brother.”
Pig Brother said, “The big brother should listen to the little brother.”
Pig Brother and Pig Brother argued back and forth, but neither could convince the other.
A little fox drove a small truck to the edge of the melon field. The little fox said to Pig Brother and Pig Brother, “Stop arguing. How about this, I have some free time now, you both go to sleep, and I’ll watch the watermelons.”
Pig Brother and Pig Brother listened, and happily went into the melon shed.
“Snore snore,” Pig Brother and Pig Brother’s snoring echoed one after the other. The two little brothers slept very sweetly and soundly all night.
While Pig Brother and Pig Brother were sleeping sweetly, the little fox was busy in the watermelon field, filling his truck with watermelons. Then, he drove away leisurely, leaving the melon field.
Pig Brother woke up, and the watermelons in the field were gone; Pig Brother woke up, and only the messy watermelon vines were left in the field.
Pig Brother said, “Where did the watermelons go?”
Pig Brother said, “Did they run away by themselves?”
Pig Brother scratched his head and thought for a while, then said, “The little fox ate them.”
Pig Brother blinked and thought for a while, then said, “What would happen if the little fox ate a whole field of watermelons?”
Pig Brother: “He would get sick.”
Pig Brother: “He would have a stomachache.”
Pig Brother and Pig Brother talked as they ran home. They decided to quickly tell Daddy Pig about the little fox eating the whole field of watermelons, so that Daddy Pig could go and rescue the little fox.
