Encouraging kids to do chores
Sundays are the dullest days because they are cleaning days. Mama Wolf said the house needed to be cleaned to welcome the new week.
Happy Wolf was engrossed in building with his blocks when Mama’s big mop swept past, “Hey! Please move aside.”
Happy Wolf was about to go to the study to read when Papa came with a few books and said, “Hey! The study is temporarily closed!” “Then I’ll go find Chubby Pig to play!” Happy Wolf pouted.
When he arrived at Chubby Pig’s house, Happy Wolf called out, “Chubby Pig, let’s go skating together!”
“I’m busy! I’m helping Mama knead dough!”
While kneading the dough, Chubby Pig said, “Look! I can make the dough soft, it’s so much fun!”
“What’s fun about kneading dough? How about we play soccer instead?” Happy Wolf still didn’t give up.
“But I have to help Mama make dumplings later!” Chubby Pig looked very happy.
After leaving Chubby Pig’s house, Happy Wolf met Dingdong Dog: “Hey! Let’s play on the seesaw!”
“Huh? Maybe next time! I have to help Grandma buy soy sauce now!” Dingdong Dog hopped away with money in hand.
Feeling downcast, Happy Wolf returned home to find Papa and Mama still cleaning. “Sundays are so boring! Everyone is busy.”
Mama chuckled and said, “You can make Sundays very exciting!”
“How?” Happy Wolf asked curiously.
“You can become the Little Cleaning Superhero, and join Papa and Mama to drive out the ‘monsters’ like dust and clutter from our home!”
“Welcome, Little Cleaning Superhero!” Papa put a cleaning hat on Happy Wolf and handed him a cloth, “Now, please eliminate the ‘dust monsters’ on the desk!”
“Hey! There really are ‘dust monsters’ on the desk!” Happy Wolf tilted his head and pressed his face close to the desk, squinting at the white layer of dust. He quickly grabbed the cloth and started wiping. In no time, the desk was clean.
Papa gave a thumbs-up, “The Little Cleaning Superhero is awesome! Please check where there are more ‘dust monsters’!” Happy Wolf immediately went around, not even missing the corners of the bookshelf.
“Report, report! There are ‘dust monsters’ on the dining table, along with some grains of rice!”
“Report, report! There are ‘dust monsters’ on the chairs and the coffee table!”
“Report, report! There’s a spider web in the corner!”
“Roger, roger! Little Cleaning Superhero, please take action immediately!” Papa said loudly.
Happy Wolf went around with the cloth, wiping the dining table, chairs, and coffee table until they were clean, and even swept away the spider web.
Soon, the house was spotless. Look! Everything was shining, books were neatly placed in the bookshelf, and toys were stored in the big box.
Now, it was afternoon tea time, and Mama placed snacks and juice on the dining table.
Papa said, “Thank you, Little Cleaning Superhero! With your help, we quickly eliminated all kinds of ‘monsters’!”
“Actually, doing chores is quite fun!” Happy Wolf exclaimed happily, “From now on, every Sunday, I will become the Little Cleaning Superhero and eliminate all the ‘monsters’!”
