Educational stories for Kid: The Tallest Tree
At the entrance of the giraffe’s home, there stood a very, very tall tree, taller than all the trees in the forest.
Every time the young giraffe passed by, he would look up at the tree in a daze: “When will I ever grow as tall as this tree?”
Day by day, the giraffe’s neck grew longer, and he could gradually reach the first branch of the tree.
Year by year, the giraffe’s neck grew even longer, and finally, he could reach the leaves on the tree.
A little monkey saw the giraffe standing in front of the tree day after day, looking up in a daze and asked, “Giraffe, why do you stand here day after day staring at the tree?”
The giraffe lowered his head and said to the little monkey, “I’m wondering when I will grow as tall as this tree.”
The little monkey scampered up to the top of the tree and asked the tree, “Mr. Tree, why are you so tall?”
The tree said, “Because I wonder when I will grow as tall as the sky.”
Upon hearing this, the little monkey looked at the giraffe, then at the tree, and began to feel upset.
“The giraffe is so tall, Mr. Tree is also so tall, but I am so short.”
The tree heard the little monkey’s sigh and said, “I grow tall to absorb more sunlight and rainwater. The giraffe grows tall because she wants to reach the leaves on the tree. The elephant’s trunk is long to drink water from the river. The ant is small so it can dig a large and comfortable home in the ground.”
The little monkey suddenly understood and was no longer upset. He became best friends with the giraffe and Mr. Tree.
