Dinosaur adventure story for kids: Tyrannosaurus Rex and Baby Brontosaurus

Tyrannosaurus Rex feared nothing; he was the fiercest dinosaur. T-Rex had a big mouth, sharp teeth, sharp claws, and a pair of fierce little eyes. He loved to bully others, and when he walked, his steps went “thump thump,” just like a moving mountain.

“Tyrannosaurus Rex is coming! T-Rex is coming!” everyone shouted as they fled.

Those who could fly flapped their wings and soared into the sky;
those with burrows quickly slipped underground;
those who could run dashed away as fast as they could.

Mother Brontosaurus was napping on her eggs. When she heard T-Rex coming, she scrambled up in a daze, grabbed her clutch of eggs, and ran for her life. But one egg fell out and rolled into the bushes.

Everyone had run away, leaving T-Rex alone. T-Rex was very pleased: “Hey! Everyone is afraid of me. I am the mightiest T-Rex, hahaha!”

Being alone didn’t bother T-Rex at all. “I can play by myself,” he said. He grabbed a big stone to toss around; threw some boulders; and knocked down a few trees. After playing for a while, T-Rex felt bored. He slowly walked toward the bushes, muttering, “Maybe I’ll take a nap first.”

In the bushes, a baby Brontosaurus was sitting on its eggshell.

T-Rex had never seen a newborn Brontosaurus before, and he stared at the baby for a long time. The baby Brontosaurus stared back at T-Rex with wide eyes. The baby was not even as big as one of T-Rex’s claws.

“Roar—” T-Rex opened his big mouth, showing his sharp teeth, and swung his huge head in front of the baby Brontosaurus.

The baby Brontosaurus blinked but didn’t move.

“Humph! Humph!” T-Rex huffed and stomped his feet. Leaves fell like snowflakes, soon burying the baby Brontosaurus.

The baby Brontosaurus emerged from the pile of leaves, picked up a leaf to wipe his overturned eggshell, and still did not run away.

T-Rex’s face turned red with frustration, and he pounded his chest in anger, thump thump thump…

“Stop!” said the baby Brontosaurus in a small voice.

T-Rex froze; no one had ever told him to stop before.

“Who are you?” asked the baby Brontosaurus.

“I’m T-Rex!” T-Rex replied.

“Then who am I?” the baby Brontosaurus asked again.

T-Rex shook his head.

The baby Brontosaurus looked at the two halves of the eggshell beneath him and said, “I used to live inside this egg, always wrapped in the shell. I should be called Baobao.”

T-Rex stared blankly at Baobao.

Baobao said, “You look so ugly.” T-Rex was stunned; he had always thought he was a cool-looking dinosaur.

Baobao continued, “Look at you, with your big mouth, sharp teeth, small eyes, and bad temper. No one must want to play with you.”

Indeed, no one played with T-Rex. Confused, T-Rex nodded.

Baobao said, “Then I’ll take you in. I want to explore the outside world. Do you want to come with me?”

T-Rex snorted from his big nostrils, “I don’t want to.”

Baobao used green vines to make two holes in the eggshell, turning it into a small backpack and slinging it over his back: “Let’s go!” T-Rex couldn’t help but follow Baobao for a few steps.

“Where’s your eggshell?” Baobao asked.

“I don’t have one,” T-Rex said.

“How can you travel without luggage? You can have the other half of my eggshell,” Baobao generously offered his beloved eggshell to T-Rex.

Suddenly, T-Rex felt very lonely, suddenly felt playing alone was boring, suddenly felt very light, as if he could fly into the sky, into the outside world. Seeing Baobao’s small figure moving ahead, T-Rex was suddenly afraid that Baobao would leave him alone in the forest. “I want to go with you!” Thus, behind Baobao rose the giant shadow of T-Rex, and together they walked out into the world…
