Delicious Mud and Sand
The food street was lined with all sorts of snack stalls, and the animals loved to come here to buy food. On this day, Hippo came to set up his own stall. What was he selling? He had brought along a bucket of mud and a bucket of sand. In front of the stall, Hippo put up a sign that read: “Delicious Mud and Sand.” So it turned out Hippo was selling mud and sand!
Bear, who was selling fish nearby, saw this and said, “Hippo, have you lost your mind? Can mud and sand really be eaten?”
“Of course they can!” Hippo replied.
After a while, Brother Chicken came by. “Give me a plate of sand. I’ve had digestive issues these past few days, so I need to eat some sand.”
As he was speaking, Sister Pigeon also arrived. “Uncle Hippo, give me a plate of sand. Eating some sand helps with digestion.”
Then, Uncle Rhino hurried over as well. “I heard there’s mud and sand for sale here.”
“That’s right,” Hippo said.
“Hurry up and give me a plate too,” Uncle Rhino said.
Bear asked, “Uncle Rhino, do you also have digestive problems?”
Uncle Rhino replied, “No, my digestion is fine. But I’m not feeling well; I have a different illness. Eating some mud can help cure it.”
As Hippo was busy serving everyone, Elephant also showed up. “Do you still have mud left? Give me a plate quickly, I need to boost my nutrition.”
So Hippo handed Elephant a plate of mud.
Bear, feeling envious, said to Hippo, “I never expected your delicious mud and sand business to be doing so well.”
“Yeah, look, there’s only one plate of mud left,” Hippo said as he began packing up his stall, ready to head home.
Bear asked, “Why aren’t you selling it? There’s still one plate of mud left.”
Hippo said, “The last plate of mud, I’m saving for myself.”
Bear thought to himself, “Maybe tomorrow I won’t sell fish anymore and will start selling mud and sand instead.”
