Deer Story: Little Deer and the Mud Pit
Little deer Duoduo left its mother and was happily hopping and skipping through the forest.
Suddenly, it stepped into a mud pit and couldn’t move.
“Mom! Mom, come here!” Duoduo shouted loudly.
But it was too far from its mother for her to hear its cries.
Duoduo shouted until its voice was hoarse, but there was no sign of its mother. It was so anxious that it began to cry, “Boo hoo.”
A frog hopped up to Duoduo and said, “This mud pit isn’t deep, why don’t you just pull your foot out?”
Duoduo just kept crying and shouting, “Boo hoo, Mom, come quickly and pull me out!”
The frog’s eyes darted around, and suddenly it shouted loudly, “Run away, a lion is coming!” It then jumped into a mud hole.
Duoduo was both scared and frightened. With all its might, it pulled its foot out of the mud pit in one go and ran away quickly.
After running for a while, Duoduo looked back: there was no sign of a lion. At that moment, the frog’s singing could be heard: “Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit! Ribbit, ribbit, ribbit! Little deer Duoduo is awesome, jumping out of the mud pit with great skill…”
“Ah, so the frog just scared me!” Duoduo lowered its head and hopped away to find its mother.
