Children’s Story about Tree Planting

Little Bear lived in a cave. The cave was hot in summer and cold in winter. Little Bear wanted to build a wooden house, so he took an axe and went up the mountain to cut down some trees.

A little bird saw Little Bear with the axe and got scared. “Little Bear, are you going to cut down the trees?”

“Yes, I’m going to cut down the trees to build a house,” Little Bear said, waving the axe.

“But these trees aren’t yours! How can you just cut them down? If you get caught, you’ll be in big trouble,” the little bird said, trying to scare Little Bear into not cutting the trees.

“You’re right! I can’t cut down trees that aren’t mine,” Little Bear said, looking at the trees and thinking for a moment. He then took the axe and went home.

The next day, Little Bear went to a bare hill. “I’ll plant some trees here, and when they grow up, I’ll use them to build a house. Ten trees should be enough.”

Not too many, not too few, Little Bear planted ten trees. He watered and fertilized the trees every day, and they grew quickly. After a few years, the trees had grown tall and strong, ready to be used for building a house. Little Bear took the axe to cut down his own trees.

However, the trees had grown lush and leafy, like a row of green guardians standing on the hill, making the hill look beautiful. Little Bear couldn’t bear to cut down the trees he had planted himself. “I’ll just keep living in the cave. I’ve gotten used to it over these years.”

Little Bear took the axe and went home. On the way, he thought, “I want to plant more trees, to fill the whole hill and make it even more beautiful.”

So Little Bear went up the hill every day to plant trees, covering the entire hill with them. “These are all the trees I’ve planted. I must take care of them. But where should I live?” Little Bear looked around and found a tree hole.

Little Bear moved into the tree hole, which was warm in winter and cool in summer. “What a comfortable home this is!” Little Bear was very happy! Little Bear’s home was one he had grown himself!
