Children’s Story about Patience: The Little Frog and the Lotus Flower

In the lotus pond, many lotus flowers were in bloom, except for one pink bud that was hiding among the leaves, unwilling to open.

“Why are you staring at me?” the bud asked the little frog.

“I want to see when you’ll bloom. You must be as beautiful as the others,” the little frog replied.

“No, no, I’m not ready yet,” the bud blushed.

“Come on, bud! You can do it!” the little frog croaked.

“No, no, I’m not ready yet.”

The little frog’s shouting attracted a group of frogs. They gathered around the bud, chanting together, “Come on, bud! You can do it!”

“No, no, I’m not ready yet.”

“If it rains a bit, the bud will surely bloom,” the frogs said, starting to dance on the lotus leaves.

Rumble, splash, little raindrops fell from the sky.

The frogs sang and danced on the lotus leaves, “Come on, bud! You can do it!”

“No, no, I’m not ready yet.”

The frogs got tired from all the jumping and felt like sleeping.

It was quiet all around. The morning sunlight shone into the lotus pond, lighting up the bud’s face. She squinted her eyes and stretched out long.

The little frog fell asleep. The petals slowly unfolded, and, ah, the bud blossomed.

A little frog woke up and was delighted to find the lotus flower in full bloom.

The frogs all gathered to admire the lotus flower. How beautiful!
