children’s story about mice
Mouse Big had a red sweater, Mouse Second had a yellow sweater, and Mouse Little had a blue sweater.
But all their sweaters were worn out.
The three brother mice sat down for a meeting. Mouse Big said, “It seems our worn-out sweaters won’t last through the winter.” Mouse Second said, “We need to come up with a plan.” Mouse Little said, “We need to think fast.”
After the meeting, the three brother mice had a great idea.
They unraveled their sweaters into yarn.
They washed and washed, cleaning the old yarn thoroughly.
Then they took the yarn up the mountain, stretching it out like a spider web, hanging it on the branches, because that’s where the sun is the closest.
Chanting strange spells and dancing strange dances, the yarn began to turn brighter and newer in the sunlight.
Mouse Big said, “With this yarn, it looks like we can make it through the winter.” Mouse Second said, “We need to knit something new with it.” Mouse Little said, “We need to knit fast.”
As they were coming down the mountain, they saw a little sister mouse without a sweater, standing there looking very cold, like a very cold Cinderella.
The three brother mice looked at the little sister mouse and then went back.
Each of the three brother mice sat by their window, knitting sweaters.
Knit and knit.
The next day, the three brother mice brought out their newly knitted items to see.
Mouse Big said, “I accidentally knitted a girl’s sweater.” Mouse Second said, “I also accidentally knitted pants.” Mouse Little said, “I made an even bigger mistake, I knitted a hat.”
The three brother mice realized they couldn’t wear them, so they decided to give them to the little sister mouse.
So, they gave the sweater, pants, and hat to the little sister mouse. Wearing the sweater, pants, and hat, the little sister mouse looked so beautiful.
The three brother mice went to Mouse Big’s room and huddled together for warmth.
Mouse Big said, “If it gets too cold, we can stay like this for the winter.” Mouse Second said, “It’s warmer this way.” Mouse Little said, “It’s really warm.”
