Children’s Story about Frogs

There was a frog named Big Mouth, who had been a voracious eater since he was a tadpole. Because of this, everyone gave him the nickname “Foodie.”

None of the little buddies wanted to play with Big Mouth. Who would want to be friends with a foodie?

Big Mouth was very sad. He also wanted to eat less. But every time he saw bugs nearby, he couldn’t help but flick out his tongue and gobble up the bug.

Big Mouth was too lonely. He thought about dying, so he went to a cliff.

At that moment, an old frog came by. Seeing Big Mouth’s sad expression, he asked, “Child, what’s troubling you? Tell me about it!” Big Mouth looked at the kind face of the old frog and tearfully told him his story.

After hearing it, the old frog laughed heartily and said, “You get sad just because others call you a foodie, but I think ‘foodie’ is a compliment for you! We eat bugs to fill our bellies, but for humans, we eliminate pests and protect their crops. That’s why they call us the guardians of the fields! Humans have calculated that we frogs can eat ten thousand pests a year, and those ten thousand pests can damage sixty kilograms of grain. Just think, our frog family has thousands upon thousands of members, how much grain can we help humans save?”

Big Mouth excitedly said, “I’m such a big eater, I can help humans save a lot of grain in a year!” The old frog said, “Yes, indeed!”

From then on, Big Mouth became optimistic, always wearing a smile on his face. Many frogs began to like Big Mouth, and he made many friends.

Everyone has their own strengths; everyone is a unique miracle. He is, I am, and so are you!
