Children’s story about bravery

Little Bunny Grey was quite timid. One day, Rabbit Mother said, “You’re grown up now, it’s time for you to go into the forest and gather mushrooms by yourself.” So, Grey, carrying a small basket, hesitantly made her way towards the forest, thinking to herself, “Could there be monsters in the forest?”

The sun shone warmly over the forest as Grey bravely stepped inside.

Suddenly, Grey heard a rustling sound. She looked down and saw the shadow of a long-haired monster, the wind blowing through the monster’s hair, making a rustling noise. Grey got so scared that she ran as fast as she could. Luckily, the monster didn’t chase her, and she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

“Thud!” Grey accidentally bumped into a large rock. When she looked into the bushes, she saw another shadow, this one with a face that had eight sharp corners. It looked terrifying. Grey quickly ran away again, relieved that the rock monster didn’t chase her either.

Grey ran up a hill and found a lot of mushrooms, which she quickly started to gather. Suddenly, she heard a “thump-thump” sound. Someone knocked on her head, patted her shoulder, and stepped on her foot. It seemed like a group of little monsters, round and bouncy, very scary. Grey was so frightened that she threw down her basket and ran away crying, convinced that this time the little monsters were following her.

“Mommy, Mommy…” Grey ran to the edge of the forest where her mother was waiting for her and threw herself into her arms. “There are monsters in the forest, lots of them…”

“No, there aren’t,” Rabbit Mother wiped away Grey’s tears. “Take me to see.”

“Look—” Grey pointed to the shadow of the long-haired monster. “Such a scary monster with long hair!”

“Haha,” Mother said, pointing to the beautiful tree sister, “that’s just the shadow of Sister Tree…”

Ah, Grey looked up and saw a little bird perched on Sister Tree’s branches, covering its mouth and laughing. Grey blushed and quickly pulled her mother along.

“Look—” Grey pointed from a distance to the stone monster with the eight-cornered face. “Isn’t it scary?”

“Haha, that’s just the shadow of Brother Rock, not a monster at all!” Rabbit Mother said with a smile.

“There are more…” Grey anxiously pulled her mother up the hill.

“Oops—” Something tripped Grey. It turned out to be a scattered pile of fruits on the ground.

“Earlier, it was a group of fruit monsters…” Grey remembered.

“Look, these fruits are perfect for making sweet soup!” Rabbit Mother pointed to the tall fruit trees on the hill, with fruits of all sizes dropping to the ground. “So, there really aren’t any monsters in the forest!” Grey laughed. She suddenly realized that even her own shadow on the hill looked like a monster, but it wasn’t scary at all, just a bit silly.
