Children’s Fantasy Tale

Rabbit Laiha was different from other rabbits; Laiha was an inventor.

Inventors are always somewhat unique. They may not see what the universe looks like, but they understand its laws. That’s the difference with inventors. A standout rabbit often feels lonely. Laiha was a bit lonely.

Laiha looked out over the fields, where hills and cypress trees created a picturesque landscape. How beautiful! Laiha wanted to tell someone, “Look, what a beautiful scene!” but no one responded. What can I invent here? Laiha wondered.

Laiha wanted to find some friends to play with. One could say that a rabbit without friends is like a “lost dog.” “I know what I need to invent! First, I need to invent a real friend-finding device.” Laiha began thinking about how to design this machine. Just as this thought occurred, Laiha saw a neighbor pulling carrots from the ground. The neighbor looked sadly at the carrots in hand and sighed, “The carrots are covered in dirt, and eating them means getting a mouthful of soil.”

Laiha thought, I should help this rabbit. Laiha’s mind quickly turned, and soon, the famous carrot-washing machine was invented. Then, Laiha thought again about the friend-finding device. Unable to come up with a solution, Laiha went for a walk. Walking helps with thinking; inventions are like that too.

“Increase the order?” a frustrated voice shouted. “A hundred? Absolutely impossible!”

It turned out to be a rabbit engaged in the traditional craft of painting Easter eggs. Such Easter bunnies were rare.

The Easter bunny sat there, holding a paintbrush, fully immersed in work. “I think I’d better become a Christmas bunny,” it complained. “The eggs to be painted are piled up like a small mountain.”

Laiha thought, I should help this rabbit.

Laiha’s mind quickly turned, and soon, the famous Easter egg painting machine was invented.

Now, Laiha thought, I really can’t get distracted anymore. The next step should be to invent the friend-finding device. Alright, focus! Laiha had a rough idea…

“Whizz!” A bullet startled Laiha from thinking. Laiha quickly hid, knowing that even inventors could be shot; hunters wouldn’t consider that it was an inventor rabbit. In the dense grass, Laiha found a hiding spot, where another rabbit was already hiding.

“How can I get home?” the rabbit asked desperately.

This was a question that needed an immediate decision. Laiha thought, I should help this rabbit.

Laiha’s mind quickly turned, and soon, a famous and impactful hunter-confusing device was invented.

Laiha thought, Tomorrow is Easter. From now until tomorrow, it’s impossible to invent the friend-finding device. Maybe I can’t invent it at all. One thing is as obvious as lice on a bald head: on Easter, I would be a lonely rabbit.

Easter arrived, and the fiery sun rose above the mountain peak.

Laiha got up early as usual, but on Easter, other rabbits got up even earlier.

“We didn’t disturb you, did we?” the Easter bunny, as a representative to thank Laiha, asked, “Do you have time to join us for an Easter picnic?”

“Do I have time?” Laiha repeated, “Yes, yes, I have plenty of time.”

So, Laiha decided to postpone the time to invent the friend-finding device indefinitely.
