Children Story about Kite: A Kite Finds Friends
There was a kite that had lost its string and was flying in the sky. It had a gloomy expression and was very unhappy, almost on the verge of tears.
The wind patted the kite on the shoulder and asked, “Kite, why do you feel like crying? You mustn’t cry! If you cry and your body absorbs the tears, you’ll become wet and heavy, and I won’t be able to push you anymore. You won’t be able to fly!”
The kite said, “Originally, I had so many friends on the ground, but now my string is broken, and I can’t go back. I’m stuck here alone in the sky with no one to talk to or play with. Isn’t that sad?”
The wind replied, “Oh, so that’s what it is. I think you should make some new friends. That way, you won’t feel lonely and sad.”
The kite nodded. It listened to the wind and decided to find some new friends.
What kind of friends should it find? The kite thought, “I need to find some good friends!”
Up high in the sky, the sun was smiling warmly, radiating golden light.
The kite flew toward the sun.
The kite asked the sun, “Sun, Sun, would you like to be my good friend and play with me?”
The sun was delighted, its face glowing red, and said to the kite, “I’d love to be your good friend! I have so much light and heat, and I won’t give them to anyone else, only to you!”
So, the sun shone its light only on the kite, and the heat was given only to the kite, not to anyone else on the ground.
But the sun’s light was too bright, like golden needles piercing the kite’s eyes, making it impossible for the kite to keep them open. The sun’s heat was too intense, like fire, making it unbearable for the kite.
The kite said, “Sun, Sun, you can’t just be friends with only me. If you do that, I’ll end up getting burned. You should share your light and heat with everyone, with many friends.”
The sun thought for a moment after hearing the kite’s words and said, “You’re right! I shouldn’t be friends with just one person and ignore everyone else.”
The sun then spread its light and heat over the earth, giving it to people; to cows, sheep, deer, and many other animals; and to flowers, grass, trees, wheat, and many other plants.
Night fell, and the moon came out. The moon’s white face was so clean! She quietly smiled in the sky.
The kite flew toward the moon.
The moon wasn’t too bright, nor too hot. Her body was curved, with pointed ends, like a crescent hook. She hooked onto the end of the kite’s string.
The moon said to the kite, “From now on, we are good friends. You must stay with me!”
The kite said, “But how can that be? I still want to find other friends to play with. How can I stay here all the time?”
The moon said coldly, “No way! You can only be my good friend. I won’t let you play with anyone else! Just stay here and keep me company. I’ll tell you lots and lots of stories.”
“Only play with you? That’s so boring! I want to find many, many friends and play with everyone!” The kite shook its head, broke free from the moon’s hook, and flew away from her.
Over there, the little stars were twinkling, laughing softly, “Look, that kite is playing all by itself!”
The kite flew toward the little stars. It asked, “Little stars, would you like to be my good friends?”
The little stars blinked and laughed, “You’re so silly! Of course, we’d love to! We want to make lots and lots of good friends!”
The kite played with the little stars. The little stars were so mischievous! They deliberately dimmed their starlight. In the darkness, the kite heard the little stars shout, “Kite, let’s play hide and seek! You come and find us!”
The kite flew back and forth in the night sky, searching for the stars. Each time it found a little star, that star would light up its starlight again.
It searched and searched, one little star, two little stars, three little stars… until all the little stars in the sky were shining!
The kite happily shouted, “I found them! I found so many good friends!”
