Children adventure tale: Brave “Watermelon Soldiers”
In a wide river, there was a green little island, the beautiful “Rabbit Kingdom.”
In the “Rabbit Kingdom,” there was no king or ministers, only a team of “Rabbit Soldiers” who practiced, patrolled, and stood guard every day to protect the land from enemy invasion.
There were many little rabbits, big rabbits, and old rabbits living together in the “Rabbit Kingdom.” They worked and lived together, enjoying a happy and peaceful life.
One day, a few foxes sneaked into the “Rabbit Kingdom” on a small boat, intending to catch some little rabbits. They were sneaking around, looking for an opportunity, but before they could make a move, they were spotted by the rabbit soldiers.
“The foxes are here! Quick, everyone hide!”
The rabbit soldiers ran around swiftly, helping all the rabbits hide in deep burrows. Then, they gathered to discuss how to drive away the foxes…
Soon, the rabbit soldiers took small shovels and went into the watermelon field. The watermelons in the “Rabbit Kingdom” were all big and round. They picked the watermelons and carved one big hole and four small holes in each, removing the flesh inside.
Then, they each crawled into an empty watermelon, sticking their heads out and extending their arms and legs, becoming a squad of “Watermelon Soldiers!”
The “Watermelon Soldiers” held hands, tucked in their heads and feet, and started rolling. A line of big watermelons rolled quickly towards the foxes…
“Oh no, a line of rolling mines!” The foxes were terrified and retreated in panic. The big watermelons rolled fast, and the foxes ran desperately, retreating all the way to the riverbank. Just as the watermelons were about to roll over the foxes, the foxes had no escape and had to jump into the river one by one: splash, splash, splash…
The “Watermelon Soldiers” poked their heads out and said, “Don’t let them get to the boat and escape!” With that, the big watermelons rolled into the river. Quickly, the “Watermelon Soldiers” formed a circle by holding hands, surrounding the foxes. The foxes couldn’t swim to the boat and were desperately swimming in circles.
One fox, too tired to swim, tried to grab a watermelon, but it slipped away. Another fox managed to grab a watermelon, but the rabbit soldier kicked it back into the water. Soon, the foxes were too tired to swim and started sinking, one by one…
The big watermelons floated to the shore, and the rabbit soldiers crawled out and swam to the bank. At this moment, all the little, big, and old rabbits from the “Rabbit Kingdom” came out, hopping and cheering for the rabbit soldiers: “Oh! The brave Watermelon Soldiers have won!” “Our rabbit soldiers have won!”
The rabbit soldiers grinned widely, showing their three-part mouths, and laughed happily!
