Camel and Horse

The little camel and the little red horse traveled together. On the journey, the little red horse was always in the lead, while the little camel followed along, often panting with exhaustion.

One day, they arrived at a grassland. Perhaps because the animals there had never seen a camel before, they were surrounded by onlookers. Everyone chattered, praising the little red horse for being handsome and dashing, while they sneered at the little camel, calling him ugly. They said he didn’t look like a donkey, a horse, or a cow, and had two lumps of flesh on his back. They also mocked his large, fat feet, calling him a monster.

Hearing the animals’ comments, the little red horse became a bit smug, flicking his long tail even more proudly. Gradually, the little red horse developed a dislike for the little camel, feeling that being with him was a disgrace, and found everything about the little camel displeasing.

Ahead was a clear river, and the little camel stopped to drink. Seeing this, the little red horse thought the little camel was looking at his reflection and became angry, saying, “Ugly creature, what’s so great about looking at yourself? You’re always dragging me back. Let’s go our separate ways!”

The little camel was not angry and replied earnestly, “Brother Red Horse, ahead lies the desert. Without my help, it will be hard for you to get through it. My fat feet and those lumps of flesh you find so ugly are actually useful in the desert!” The little red horse was skeptical but felt the little camel was sincere and felt remorseful for his earlier unfriendliness.

As they entered the vast desert, a fierce wind blew, and sand filled the sky. The little red horse was terrified. The little camel told him to crouch down and used his body to shield him from the sand.

Even so, the little red horse’s nose filled with sand, making it hard for him to breathe, while the little camel remained unaffected. When the wind stopped, the little camel quickly helped the little red horse clear the sand from his nose, which moved him deeply.

As they walked on, the little red horse accidentally got his foot stuck in the sand and couldn’t pull it out, sinking deeper and deeper. He cried out for help, “Help!” The little camel hurried over and pulled him out with all his strength. Looking at the little camel’s big feet, the little red horse said enviously, “Your big feet are really useful!”

Under the scorching sun, the little red horse leaned on the little camel, still hungry and thirsty. The little camel always protected him and encouraged him that there would be an oasis ahead. Finally, the little camel, with his special abilities, led the little red horse to an oasis.

The little red horse ate and drank his fill and finally felt rejuvenated. He said gratefully, “Brother Camel, thank you, you’re really capable!” The little camel shrugged his humps and nudged the little red horse with his head without saying a word.

After crossing the desert, they reached their travel destination, a place of picturesque beauty, but the little red horse had no heart to enjoy the scenery. Reflecting on the journey with the little camel, he seemed to have understood many things.
